Winter Light is a very special film. Of course, it is but one of many made by the great Ingmar Bergman. Mr. Bergman may be the greatest filmmaker of all time. His films are filled with meaningful dialog, brilliant acting and are the type of brave films that ask questions that so many are afraid to ask. The existence or non-existence of God. The fear and control sometimes used by organized religion. The way we humans so often hurt those closest to us due to a lack of understanding of our own psyche. Ingmar Bergman was a brilliant man.

Glad you enjoyed it! Bergman engaged in a number of interviews with director Marie Nyreröd in 2003. This footage was fashioned into introductions to several of his films, as well as the feature-length documentary "Bergman Island" (2006).
