I always relate to when Mary said “she never cried, she didn’t know how.” After experiencing severe childhood trauma, that’s what happened to me. Watching this movie unlocked so many memories and sensations just as I’ve been slowly healing myself. It’s such a beautiful film and this song is so special. When I first heard it it gave me chills. 💜✨

@@maryamnelson8063That is what happened to me. I suffered childhood trauma starting when I was eight my beloved Grandma died . She loved me and I loved her. I suffered from depression for three years. I had a horrible teacher that year too. She didn't like me and I never knew why. And the older I got the worse it became. I was bullied and tormented by classmates from the age of twelve until I graduated from school . My parents weren't very affectionate and my father thought children were supposed to think and reason like adults. And both he and my mother were verbally and emotionally abusive to both me and my younger sister. They whipped us for half the time doing things kids done. It got to where I just shut down my emotions. I was also a loner. I could count on one hand the friends I had. Maybe two. I would sit in my room and listen to music. I never wanted to do anything or go anywhere. When I was fifteen we went to a vacation place with my sisters friend who and her parents. When we got there my mother who was doped up on Valium started screaming at me in the car. " You better not show your ass and embarrass me!" She meant I better not show off. I never did that. I told her "Everyone can hear you" and she yelled " I DON'T CARE!" All this went on until I was 49 when my dad died. Then finally when I turned 55 I finally stopped holding my feelings inside and started crying. Then after he died my mother got worse. She tried to sell our house and when she couldn't sell it she went and took out a loan on our house. That damn mortgage won't be paid off until 2047. She had Alzheimers and had her license taken away from her. She told my cousins we were starving her and we were elder abusing her. That was a lie but they believed it. But they finally found out the truth. She died in February of this year.

I love the score to this film, but I especially love how this song’s arrangement was interwoven throughout the entire film. From the beautiful scene showing the coming of spring to the garden, when the choir children are singing the melody, to the orchestral parts, to when it’s played melodramatically during tense moments. Then it’s played quietly at the peak of the film when Colin sees his father outside… and then again at the end when Colin walks and everyone is happy. Finally, Linda’s version plays on the credits.

Hearts call Hearts fall Swallowed in the rain Who knows Life grows Hollow and so vain Wandering in the winter light The wicked and the sane Bear witness to salvation And life starts over again Now the clear sky is all around you Aah aah Love's shadow will surround you All through the night Star glowing in the twilight Tell me true Hope whispers and I will follow Till you love me too Ah ah ah Now the clear sky is all around you Aah aah Love's shadow will surround you All through the night Star glowing in the twilight Tell me true Hope whispers and I will follow Till you love me too Ah ah ah Love the film, love the music in this film. EDIT: Lyrics changed thanks to a poster below. Sorry, I advised you all incorrectly. I have to say this. I loved the film when I was young. I'm extremely emotionally numb thanks to PTSD. However, I get why people say it's upsetting with Colins dad. It's hard to explain this but I will try. My dad died last year. He was dead to me anyway, never his priority. He proved it when he left me nothing in his will, I had a 2% thought he'd put right all the wrongs he's done and not been there for me after he died. A sibling got a lot etc and my son whose disabled got nothing either. Anyhow, I watched the film a few months ago and got so close to tears when Colin's dad came back to him and Mary got so upset. I think it's upset me so much that I wanted my dad to come back to me and be there for me, but he never did. But I hoped I was wrong, but sadly everything I thought was proved right!! Sorry for the negativity.

I've listened and loved her country, pop, rock and orchestral vocals but this is magnificent. So beautifully done. It only makes me respect her even more which is hard to even believe since she is so amazing already but wow. What a wonderful song and performance by the musicians and of course Linda Ronstadt.
