Winter Mud Season Begins!

It is here! My least favorite time to work on the farm. Winter Mud Season! Every year is gets cold them warms up and rains and turns our farm into a muddy mess. It is the first of our two mud season the next one comes in early spring.
During this time we try our best to get our animals to a spot on the farm that stays relatively dry and doesn't ruin our pastures for springtime. Follow along as we move our first group of pigs to high ground in the woods and also we check in on the new piglets!

Yes it is. Sometimes you can see the brown tips in the sun but they mostly look black

Question, How early/what age do you all castrate your piglets? We had our first liter last week and we had a very, VERY runty one, but he is doing excellent despite his size. He'll be two weeks Christmas eve.... Didn't know if you all had a "different protocol" for runts? Also- Andy: "John! John, Green tractor!" 😂❤🚜

Some people castrate as early as a few days old. We have done them at 5 weeks up to 8 weeks before. The earlier the easier
