If you are still looking at a solution to the heat spikes phase change materials could be a good Option. They take up quite a lot of heat in a specific range. Basically pick the max degrees of the greenhouse you want and get a phase change material that melts at this heat. Once the temps drop it will start radiating heat at the melting point.

Another cheaper option would be a soil or rock store with air pipes to preserve the heat of the day for the nights heating

Nice post, love the idea of pushing the limits. I have been playing with a very small aquaponics system I've put together using feeder goldfish it's a work in progress but I have had some success with Swiss Chard and Kale :) Like the idea of crayfish poly culture with the fish. Good luck with your experiment, hope to post my own some day.

How are you maintaining the other plant nutrients (Nitrogen is obviously well covered with Fish/ Feed waste) without adding anything to the system? Phosphorus and Potassium (N-P-K #s on fertilizers), and then there's also Calcium, Manganese, Sulfur, Iron, and a few others. pH is also going to naturally drift down over time... Absolutely love what you're doing, I'm not too far away, and would love to grow over winter without excessive energy costs to do so. Which style of burning wood chips was used to compare to composting? I've seen quite a bit about rocket mass heaters, which could alleviate the high humidity issue of having open water as the thermal mass....may be a lower tech solution, but not a 0 maintenance one either, needs daily tending for a fire for 1-2 hours. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful! But a copper tube in an aquaponic system is a big no-no, your fish won't like it...

Nice Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Patlarny Gardening Expert Principle (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for learning how to expand your produce with the clever art of aquaponics without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my good mate called Gray got cool results with it.

If you build your greenhouse against your building the windows of your house would act like radiators.

There are several components to studying aquaponics. One place I discovered which successfully combines these is the Keiths Ponics Site (google it if you're interested) definately the best info that I have ever seen. look at this extraordinary website.
