I'm considering supporting Winter Rabbit, though I guess I'm having trouble gauging the nature of this game. Would you say that the "preparing for winter" group objective aspect is your primary goal? As in, it's at least somewhat hard to do and you need to put a lot of care and concentration into doing it. Or would you say that the group goal is easy enough to do as long as you're paying attention and that getting a high score should be the bigger priority? I hope my comment makes sense haha. I understand that this game isn't going for your binary Prisoner's Dilemma of "help yourself vs help others". I guess what I'm asking is, at the end of the game, does it feel more like "Wow you guys we got through winter! I'm curious who scored the highest?" or is it more like "Alright we got through winter. Who won the game?"

With more play throughs I may have a more robust feel for it, but in my limited time with the game I think it's pretty hard to prepare for winter. It's definitely something that multiple people are going to need to contribute to each round otherwise you're likely to not make it. I think higher player counts might lessen the demand to a small degree, but it's still definitely not a forgone conclusion that you'll just naturally pass the winter check without making it a priority.

Having watched some play-throughs with the creator, these two goals are pretty well aligned. By completing tasks to prepare for winter, you earn victory points, so whoever helps the most to complete the preparations is also earning more points. There are other ways to earn VPs, but not as quickly. It also does appear to pay off to invest in village cards early, to give you more resources to complete tasks and tell stories, and earn VP that way.

@@Love2HateBGreviews Thanks for the honest answer. I have to think because this really is like you said where the competitive and collaborative aspects of this game are so intrinsically aligned with one another that it feels like you're not at one another's throats. In that case, does it feel more like you're aiming for the winter check and win equally or do you tend to focus/care about one goal over the other more?

I found myself looking to try and do as much as I could with whatever resources I was able to gain. My first priority was to do tasks that furthered the winter check because as TysonHoffman pointed out above, you get good points when completing tasks that further the winter check. But then I try to make sure I'm also able to complete a story card here and a villager card there, just so that I'm inching a little bit ahead of everyone else. There definitely is a bit of cutthroatiness to the game though with the winter rabbit tokens. Don't think this game is all cooperative sunshine and rainbows 😆

@@Love2HateBGreviews Okay that makes a lot of sense. Thanks again for answering my question. If I'm not asking too many questions, I'm curious how feasible it is for a player who knows they can't win to purposefully sabotage winter check out of spite during winter round?
