Graeme, I watch you as often as I can. I've learned so much. Things I could do on small lakes & gentle rivers. Big lakes/fish are like nature videos. Relaxing & fun to watch. I mean no disrespect, sir, but (being a Yankee - lol) I understood everything this time. You spoke softer & slower. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LMAO on some of your hysterical opening scenes that you've done. You should be very proud of yourself of the example you set as a father with all the time we see you spend with Mike. Love to your families.

Graeme, that's a brilliant point about the first fish of a session changing your confidence. I've been on a few trips where the chances of catching seem slim and I've started to doubt my sanity after a few hours of no bites, then I land a fish and suddenly I'm rushing to get a bait back out in anticipation of a sudden run of fish!

Makes a big difference to your attitude that first fish,especially if you are fishing a water you have never been to before. Gives you enthusiasm to fish with more confidence,almost willing the float to go under.

Thanks for that Graeme, to see an urban stretch in a swollen condition being fished with such success is a first for me. Thanks also to Richard for doing the right thing with disused gear. from my point of view, gifts like this to the TA fishing cause makes the whole exercise worth while. I should do the same really. However, I just cant bring myself to part with my collection. Plus my angling sons are waiting for me to pop my clogs and see whats been hidden for years. Thank you again Graeme.

Another brilliant, informative video Graeme...thank you. Am desperate to get back out, once this weather buggers off. Ive got to be honest, as a sea angler, coarse fishing doesnt really appeal to me (but Ive watched all you videos, so you must be holding my attention). One question (because I dont know anything about coarse fishing)....I notice you go to lots of different spots like in this video, how do you know who to pay? In some vids you walk along rivers and fish lots of different spots, do you have to pay different fisheries all along one river or is it like a day pass? Sorry if they are daft questions but Ive never had to pay to fish........yet
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Reply not daft. The local tackle shop will generally sell you a day ticket for a stretch of river,but that will have boundary restrictions so it won't cover the whole river. Usually rivers are broken up into different club sections. Each club may have either no day tickets allowed so you have to join their club,or they sell a day ticket. It could be half a mile,it could be several miles. Best to check online or at your local tackle shop shop. The price is exactly that..a ticket for a day.

Hi Graeme just a quick question. Have you ever tried longline fishing?. I was going to give it a go with about 20 hooks while doing some shark fishing (if this weather ever gets better that is) sometime in the summer. I have watched a lot of videos on youtube and think I have figured out a way to get everything back without ending up with a birds nest. Any advice would be welcome.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 4 жыл бұрын
I did try it a couple of times trying to find areas where fish were prolific. It was quite fun and we couldn't wait to pack up our rod and line fishing to go and see what was on the long line. Quite something to see twisted nylon and no hooks where big Conger had either taken the bait or the fish that was on the hook,they spin and go through even 80lb mono. You need to check old books or the internet to see how longlining is done properly. A lot of it is using enough weight to anchor the line and also deciding whether to anchor across the tide,or down it.

@@TAFishing I also use a 1 1/2 lb Avon if I'm not sure what's in an unfamiliar river. It can bump off small stuff like grayling, trout or roach. A beefy 4-5oz quiver tip acts a bit like a match rod, and you can still cast a float with it. @@conalbennett8259 What do you mean releasing Pike into Trout fisheries? If they are catching them in the "Trout Fisheries" then what's the harm in releasing them back into where they came from? Always annoys me that people think the Pike are destroying the trout. Poor excuse for not catching on the fly. Pike maintain weight in a body of water - not numbers. Take out a few big Pike and they get replaced with loads of little ones that go around eating everything to get bigger - it's a problem that wasn't there to begin with caused by ignorant trout fishermen. Tight lines and all that.....just don't be killing Pike for no reason.
