If you like catching carp and you want to catch the big ones, use cornmeal and strawberry jello to make your bait. Jello brand gelatin. This is an old Jimmy Houston technique. Works like magic. I have NEVER been skunked with this bait. It's the best. I use a can of corn, smash it all up and strains much of the skins as possible. Use this corn juice and add it to the dry jello and cornmeal mix. This will mix up well and make good bait balls.

Those top ponds remind me of an old clay pit we used to fish known locally as The Blue Lagoon. It was reputed to be over 50ft deep in places and a 'shallow' end of 8ft but you could still see the bottom the water was so clear. From what I remember, it only really used to fish well after dark when the carp came out from the deeper water.

I know you guys have some kind of freshwater crayfish over there, I don’t know what you call them but they bound to be in most waters there and if so then you know the carp are feeding on them, at least they do over here in the states, and just about every where too! I’ve caught crawdads ( that’s what I call them), by either seining them or using a crayfish trap, and froze them whole and alive, do not freeze them in water, But put a whole frozen crawdad, crayfish, whatever you call them, on your hook, whatever kind of hook you use and you can either fish them under a float or on a bottom rig, but I’d just about guarantee that the carp ( or anything else) would hit them! I’ve caught Big carp using frozen crawfish, crawdads, crayfish, especially in small lakes, ponds or whatever ( paylakes especially, that’s what we call them over here, paylakes are kinda what you were fishing here in this video)! At least they look like paylakes to me! Anyway, good deal Graeme! Love it!!

in one of our club ponds (blue lagoon) we have put blue dye into the water . Apparently helps to reduce weed growth and also give fish some chance against cormorants. Looks similar to those
@TAFishing5 жыл бұрын
I have heard about it. But if it makes the waters clear does that not increase sunlight and thereby more weed growth ?..and would it not be easier for the cormorants to spot their prey in clearer water ? Or maybe it makes the water go clear but inhibit the weed growth .Maybe a fishery expert can tell us.

I know some waters have blue dye added to them, something to do with algae not growing as well in light of the blue spectrum. Maybe that's why the water has a blue to it ?

The blueish color maybe due to the algae killer someone put in. Some ponds around here in the OBX are the same shade.
