Am really enjoying your "bookish" videos Candy. An have been googling and saving many of your reads to my ever-expanding to be read list. A few years ago, when I still lived in the very snowy west of New York State, I struggled every winter with SAD (seasonal Affective Disorder) The winters up there are long and grey. so...I decided to start collecting and reading anything "winter" themed and amassed a nice collection of books to help me enjoy the season. From science books about snowflakes, poetry (Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost, illustrated by Susan Jeffers) , cozy murder mysteries and beautifully illustrated children's books (like your snow queen). I now live in sunny Florida, but those books still come out each year to remind me that each and every season has its own beauty and value.

Jayne Eyre - one of my all-time favourites. Also 'A 'Christmas Carol'. I always read Dicken's ghost stories around Christmas. ❤❤😊 I believe books call to us. I worked in libraries for years and numerous times I would pick a book off the shelves and ittold a story that ws set in an area i was familiar with and its message was relevant to my life at that time. That's Magick. ❤😊 Winter reading - 'Winter Solstice' by Rosamund Pilcher. A blast from the past for me - Jostein Gaardner 'Sophie's World' a brilliant introduction to Philosophy. My Philosophy tutor recommended it at college.

your poncho really matches your lights! I am currently working through a decades-long backlog of to-be-read books that I own. I want to read them all so I can just use the library or get a book and read it and be free from the pressure of books I haven't read sitting on my shelf. the shelf has varied from 50 - 70 books for the last 26 years, and there are some books that have been on there for over 20 years. I have tried and failed in the past but this year I got serious about it, banned myself from the library, reorganized it by length of time they've been sitting, and made a spreadsheet with images of the covers on it. I won't clear it this year, but I have made progress and I think I can do it next year. then I'll be free to do reading tags!

Do you record your reading on Goodreads, Candy? I cannot resist buying novels in charity shops, but Goodreads helps me to keep track of my temporary piles of fiction. Currently, I see I have 104 novels waiting to be read. (And this is after a declutter!) As I have already met my reading challenge for 2024, I think I will focus on reading the longest books in my pile for the rest of the year. Although your video has made me long to read some of my dark fairy tales for adults! Could you tie in your retellings with the Tarot? I'm thinking about the Inner Child Tarot, maybe Forest of Enchantment, Chrysalis etc.
@CandySoulAndSoilАй бұрын
I do record my readings on goodreads yes and I just am constantly clicking on want to read too, there is no organisation of books really anywhere. 😂 I love that you have met your reading goal. Next year I’m setting it to 1 book to not be under any pressure. I think that the tarot does tie in so easily on so many ways with books so yes I definitely will be pulling out the fairy tale decks. Thank you so much for taking the time to suggest this I appreciate you so much for that ❤️
