For our 6th anniversary, we snow camped near Lake Tahoe and went skiing at Alpine Meadows.

Did ya'll cross shop this car with the forester? If so, what lead you to go with the Rav4? I'm stuck between the two. Rav4 historical reliability vs historical great awd of the subie? I like both cars for the same purpose you use your rav. I need a daily driver that can handle dirt roads and then on weekends go camping on rougher roads/snow. Will the subie cvt/head gaskets die over 70K or will the new rav set up have later issues as well?

We did consider the forester, and it is definitely a good car. We mostly preferred the styling of the RAV4, and the traditional gear system vs the CVT. So far it has been great for what we need it to do. We are hoping the RAV lives up to the expected Toyota reliability! Planning on driving this thing well past 100k miles.

Do u get bad sun glare on car instruments panel and are seats comfortable on long drives ? Thx

Not too bad. The seats are comfortable enough. Its not a luxury car, but overall we have been happy with the comfort on long trips. We did a 9day road trip from CA -> AZ -> UT -> CA last fall and were very comfortable the whole drive.

We got the Rough Country 2.5" spacers + some custom stiffer rear coils to fix the sagging rear end. Gained about 3" ground clearance.
