I usually don't comment on videos as a rule, but being an Oregonian who has spent time working in Sitka, Ketchican and Dutch Harbor over the years I can't help it. The fascination with Alaska has always been there. The beauty of the vast wilderness, the loneliness of the desolate landscape, the wildlife ALL has an amazing attraction that is almost impossible to describe to anyone who has not witnessed it first-hand. To watch you two live your dream and do it so well is truly inspiring to this old man. May you two thrive and live happily for many years to come.

Okay, hands down that was the BEST Q & A I have ever watched on any KZbin channel! No wasted moments, lots of laughing and obvious affection between you two and the dogs, and good honest to-the-point answers. I liked how you established your parameters as to finances but, basically, everything else was open to question. Thanks for a refreshing 23 minutes---and the ending with Ariel w/o gloves was enchanting. Cold, but enchanting.

Merry Christmas 30+ degrees C here, typical Australian weather, bushfires are also quite normal, this time there was a major lack of pre-season burn off and other political factors, like stopping cattle from entering state forests where they controlled undergrowth and on and on. Unfortunately a lot of idiots starting fires too. A lot of damage and lives have been lost. Send us some snow and you can enjoy tropical North Qld in the rain forest and go diving on the reef. Sounds like Alaska is as big as Australia, almost, same diversity of weather and distances. Keep up the great video's. regards Trevor

I’m too old now (and widowed, I’m 52) but if I had it to do over again I’d so do this! I’m a huge gardener and appreciate everything y’all do. Good luck in your journey. I can't handle the cold, neither the snow. My dream is to be a homestead. I don't know much about survivor skills, I'm learning from you. You two are a great team! It shows in the videos you produce. Stunning! I drool over your experiences. About 50 years ago (Gawd! That's half a century!), my then wife and I decided to homestead in Alaska. We were young enough and had not accumulated much stuff yet. After making the decision, ALASKA CLOSED HOMESTEADING! Then life got in the way. 12 years ago, my present Wife and I bought 19 acres of trees and deer tracks in da' big woods up nort' in the U.P. of Michigan. With a half mile long driveway back into the woods, we were snow-bound in 5 feet of snow on the ground last year for 9 days straight. Loved every minute of it! We do many of the things you do to survive and thrive. No problems, other than running out of fresh milk. I am "living vicariously" with your channel. Love it and keep up the excellent quality. Thanx! The Old Norwegian >
