Oh those winter squash look delicious. Thanks Susan. Finally a little 3 day cold front in Texas. 37 degrees night 64 daytime. But alas back to 80 on Sunday 40 at night. Gardening is tough here. Cover/uncover. Bring inside/outside.

Wow, those are quite the temperature extremes. We're mostly in the 20s and 30s these days. Glad you liked the video!

Same here in WI. It’s work to get fall veg through.

Great series as usual. I love growing pumpkins and winter squash so always good to hear your advice and recommendations. I'm sure you and Bill will be enjoying some of those squash and pumpkins for your holiday meals. Great that you grew so much for the meal using the Autumn Frost including catching the fish. I bet it was a great meal.

I love butternut squash. Also keep them in basement for several months till cooking. Usually peel and cut in large chunks and cook in pot, covered, with a little water. Like to add dill. Do you also make soup? I add a sweet potato, maybe even a carrott, apple, shallots or anything else you like and blend. Yum.

Yes, I love making different kinds of soups and stews. Your combination sounds luscious!

I tried Delicata and sweet meat, but I guess my tastebuds are for acorn, buttercup and butternuts. The rugosa Violina was very good and like butternuts but much larger. Our above ground root cellar is too humid for squash so I freeze it up. We recently discovered we like pumpkin bars and probably could use squash just the same.

Is your basement heated? I usually store mine in the unheated garage.

No, the back half of our basement has concrete walls and a floor. Our garage can get pretty cold.
