Sound advice as always Capt. Sam. Being prepared and having all systems up to snuff is always important. Those pesky animals are a little harder to plan for 🙂 Boat looks great after all the buffing. I know you have to miss her. Be well and best wishes you two.

Excellent video. I would like to see other Loopers give information like this a lot can be learned by other people's experience. And yes batteries can be mysterious I've dealt with them all my life as a mechanic, some of them seem to have a mind of their own and defy laws physics.

We learned a lot during our two plus loops and Rev was very diligent in videoing all of our trips! We did 272 trips in all, so stay tuned for the rest of them. As well as about 100 other videos on various aspects of the loop! It has been a pleasure sharing them! It is great to have you on board and have a prosperous and Happy New Year 😎🎊

That 8D battery boiling over would also be venting hydrogen gas. Could make for a big 💥 BOOM! if something was to spark. With a slightly older inboard like yours, I'd be looking at replacing the battery banks with LiFePO4 (or at least AGM sealed) ASAP! Unfortunately I think the yards most familiar/comfortable with that sort of conversion are going to be on the southern end of the Loop.

Can’t use lithium for starting, so will need both lead and lithium, which is quite doable, but also very complex. Honestly a power boat on the loop is making electricity frequently, so lithium is not as interesting, especially if you have some solar for the days at anchor. Solar is a DIY for anyone with minimal technical skills.
