Winter Storm | Blizzard Nemo NYC- Time Lapse 36 hours in 2 minutes 2.8.13 - 2.9.13

Winter Storm | Blizzard Nemo time lapse video. 5600 individual images taken 30 seconds apart between 4am on the morning of February 8th, 2013 and 4pm on the afternoon of February 9th, 2013 in Rego Park, Queens NYC. Definitely not a full blown "blizzard" for the NYC Metro, but for indexing purposes here on KZbin I used Blizzard in the title, since this storm was in fact, a blizzard.
All in all about a foot of snow fell on the NYC Metro from this historic storm. But that is NOTHING compared to what fell on the eastern end of Long Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Those areas were buried under 2 to 3 feet of snow!

Thank you, I looked at some other vids and saw more of the areas it hit, saw the major snow drifts and blowing snow. I actually experienced my first blizzards in Adak Alaska, the winds were blowing over 75 mph in the first one I experienced. One the wind gusts was recorded at 110 mph.

I was so jealous of the North. I am in Virginia and when I saw that we would not see any of it I was so mad. lol However that night we saw snow flurries and high winds, it even gave us a very slight dusting, so at least I got that much! Great video, love how long you time lapsed this!

Yep, it sure did! That kept our totals down a bit here in Queens. All in all we got around 9.5" here in Queens, NY and 11.5 in Manhattan. WAY higher totals just east of me. Thanks for watching!

I used my GoPro Hero2 for this timelapse sequence. I rigged it so I could keep the usb power cable in so I was able to run the camera indefinitely. I essentially drilled a hole in one of my waterproof housings and plugged the camera in. Then I used silicone to seal off the hole around the usb plug, and mounted it outside my top floor window. Nice Video, I really enjoy watching time lapse of snowfall. Down here in TN, you get 1 inch or even speak of it & idiots arise from even cracks in the roads.LOL...Its 51 degrees here in Chattanooga now & all the bread & milk items are almost wiped out of the stores. Anyways great vid, Stay Safe

Yep, sure was a bonefied blizzard. Not for NYC though, but for points east on Long Island, as well as up and down the New England coast. I titled it Blizzard Of 2013 since it was in fact a blizzard, and that title helps it get indexed properly on KZbin :) Can't wait for chase season!

Oh absolutely, for NYC it definitely was a major snow storm and not a blizzard. I outlined all that clearly in the description column for this video. However, for indexing purposes on KZbin you want to put "Blizzard Of 2013" in the title since it will broaden the viewership overall since this specific storm was in fact, a blizzard. Hi, I literally had to drill a hole into one of my waterproof housings (I have three of them) and then I hand filed it until it could accomodate the USB power cable. I them sealed it off with silicone and mounted it outside my window and then ran the cable back in through the window so I could plug it in. When I imported everything into my editor I scaled the picture up so that it would fit the entire 1920 X 1080 window. In doing so I lost a bit of the edges but nothing too major.

Hey Scott, was this storm a true blizzard? I know sometimes the media will label it a blizzard just because the snow is deep or that the storm would have blizzard like conditions. I know the winds are suppose to be blowing 50mph or more which would usually cause white out conditions unless the snow was more of a wet snow. Tornado season is getting close, hope it's better than last year. The chase days were so few.
