Hey Joe, I bought a 2018 BX23S with a rear blower on it last year. I am honestly amazed at how far this little tractor will blow the snow. You want to make good and sure you’re blowing with the wind, or it’s going to get pretty miserable without a cab like you said. The main reason I went with a rear mount blower was so that I could keep the use of my loader. It’s is a great little tractor but lacks the weight and power to dig the blower into hardpacked frozen snow. With the loader on I am able to flip around and break up the pile and then blow it. I am also able to back drag with the bucket, and pile snow, although you would be able to do that with the plow. I don’t have any chains on the R4 tires, or extra weight on the tractor, and haven’t had any issues with steering or traction yet. Unfortunately with the BX23S I wasn’t able to get rear hydraulic remotes because of the backhoe subframe. So I’m stuck with the manual controls for the chute until I work something up. The manual controls work alright, just annoying lol I think you would be fine with a rear blower coupled with the front plow, and you can get the best of both worlds. I’m looking forward to getting some videos of my own up this year to showcase my tractor Keep up the good work Joe

Hey there Joe Thanks for the shout out!! Glad to see you're having some fun seat time with your machine. I think the method you're using works pretty well for you. It doesn't seem like you get a ton of snow where you're at to really justify a front mounted snowblower. Maybe a rear snowblower would be best for you. Nice of you to help out your neighbors. Check out a GoPro session hero 4. It's what I use and you can get one for under $100 on amazon or eBay and they work great. Keep on tractoring and God bless.

No problem! I love your channel! Keep up the great work. Thank you for your opinion regarding the front mounted snowblower. As you stated, we just don't get enough snowfall to justify one. However, the rear mounted snowblower is still in my sights!

Yeah rear mounted snow blowers pay of quickly and are so much cheaper than front mounted. i grew up clearing a 1/4 mile drive way with one. quite handy for tight spaces. great to have something on front and rear.

On a driveway of that length, i would make one pass up the driveway, plow out an area to turn around, this way you can turn around, and no wasted trips down the driveway, it may seem like more work, but you will move more snow in a shorter time, and not have so much clean up. Just a suggestion, great video, great equipment!!

Awesome video! Love watching our BX’s work, just made a new video myself. I could tell you didn’t have any rear ballast on the count of when you hit those snow piles I could see the rear end lifting. I would def fill your tires at the very least specially if you plan on doing loader work sometime with it. I have filled rear tires and another 200lbs in suitcase weights on my custom fabbed heavy hitch. Thanks for sharing your video man and best of luck To you!

Nice job there buddy and its always great helping out the neighbors.... you never know when you might need the favor returned (if your machine ever goes down at the wrong time. One suggestion for you... angle your plow (if it has that feature) as you are plowing and straighten out as you hit the pile. This will save you multiple trips up and down the driveways. live in Western NY (South of Buffalo) and I use to have a small personal plow for my SUV that didn't have the auto angle feature (Home depot special) and now that I have a Snowdogg with tilt option, it cuts my plowing time in half.....

Mark Zablotny you are right on that one! I realize that saving my life is more important than any piece of equipment or property damage. My issue is forgetting to fold it down when I put the tractor away. I don’t want to take out my garage door or garage header. It’s definitely something I should think about. Thanks for watching!!

Hey Joe I think you are doing a great job with the equipment you have. I have lived in western N.Y. for most of my life. I’ve plowed with Tractors, dump trucks and pickups. I have never used a rear mounted snow blower. I also never considered a rear mounted snow blower. I also have used front mounted snow blowers both single stage and two-stage blowers. The most hated snow blower I have ever used is the walk behind. As Mr. Morgan has said snow pusher for big areas. Rear mounted snow blowers for tractors that don’t have front a Front PTO. If the snow pile gets to big mount up your front loader and build it higher. The only suggestion to you is wheel weights. Any 12” wheel weight will work. As long as your rear wheels are 12”. The last number on your rear tire is the rim size. 24x12x12. I think that’s your tire size. If you didn’t know that. GL thanks for the vid. Just thought about this. 3 years ago I found a complete from blower and soft side Curtis Cab for my father in-laws BX23 on Craigslist. Any BX attachment will fit on yours. I did have to travel about two hours to pick it up. Again thanks.

Thank you for watching! I appreciate the advice regarding the wheel weights. I actually did not know that about wheel weights, as this is really the first "real" tractor I owned. Prior to this, I owned an Exmark zero turn.

Great video. I wish I could use my tractor we got 5 inches of snow and then it warmed up and turned to rain here. I'm dealing with pumping out a flooded basement. I wish it would stop warming up and raining until I get my sump pump installed.

I can't help but think that blowing the snow onto the front grass area in the early months of the season leave space for more later. I used to have a walk behind snow blower, would do the two houses to my left, the 4 across the street and the one on my right. and the driveways for my neighbor who worked for the town plowing the streets. last thing he needed was to come home and shovel!
@henryrodgers3409

I would get the snow pusher for your BX , This way you could use the FEL to push the piles of snow over . The snow pusher that has a blade on top for back dragging would be good for your driveway ( garage doors ) . Mike at the Morgans channel said a plow is good for a road and a snow pusher is good for a larger area which what your driveway is . Good Works Tractors is a good place to start looking at a snow pusher .

I suggest, if I may that you get chains. They are a great add on. I put washer fluid in my tires for weight. That added 50 lbs per tire. Good job by the way for helping your neighbors. Angling your blade helps cut down on trips back and forth.

Great video !!! I totally agree a rear mounted blower would be perfect for your needs ....and if you ever get a blizzard that blower would chew up deep drifts ..... My only question is would the weight of the rear blower hurt your turning or do you think the weight of your front plow is enough ?
@averagejoevideo9556
@averagejoevideo9556 5 жыл бұрын
JeeperJimbo 1990 that’s a great question. I would think the rear mounted blower would help, but would the weight be too much and would the rear mounted blower make backing up to plow more of a concern because of how far it sticks out?
@orangeauthority8786
@orangeauthority8786 5 жыл бұрын
@@averagejoevideo9556 I have a rear mount blower on my BX23S, but I also have the loader on to counteract the weight of the blower. It definitely takes some getting used to, but once you get your situational awareness, it will become second nature.

I have a front blower and 5 foot rear blade. I use both for snow here in Michigan. I like your front blade but you’re doing a lot of revolutions. A blower for that drive would have the entire thing done on 10-15 mins max. If you were doing a lot of them you’d need to consider one.

I'd rather have a plow than a snow blower. But if you get 2ft+ then a blower would be the best way. Are you angling your plow at all? I don't see you using the angle at all and would help with the snow coming out on both sides. Wasting alot of time with not angling. Coming up the drive on your neighbors, I would angle the blade towards the left and come up along the bushes and work your way to the left on each pass. By not angling you just keep fighting the snow as it comes off both sides of the plow and you keep repeating the process on each pass and double your work.

@fervidGOOBY

Norman Banks My thoughts exactly. You’d better have a surface you aren’t worried about when using chains. In this case a rear blower would add tons of traction, and that could be the excuse to get another attachment!

Don't get a rear blower you will find that it get very hard on the back specifically as for the speed you don't ne ed to go back an forth it's clear everything on the first pass with the driveways you have would clear in 1/ 4 of the time I've had mine for 3 yrs never had a problem with it

if you have an angle you should use that? I see you went by the bushes about 10 times...what you need to do is angle your blade away from the bushes, that way it will never build up under the bush and next time you plow it you will not have the ridge to contend with... Gary

Angle the blade then work your way over! And the neighbors long drive way angle the blade then turn around and plow out the driveway. Backing up that whole length is a waste of fuel & time. Not using the angle you go over the same row over and over again!
