If you're ever stranded in deep snow, make sure you clear a path from your exhaust pipe to allow the exhaust to reach open air before you run your car to stay warm. You cannot smell carbon monoxide and if the path is blocked by deep snow that gas will enter your car and kill you. That exact thing happened a few years ago when a group of twenty something's were stranded at a ski resort and fell asleep in the car with the heater going. Unfortunately not one of them woke up. The car, and the exhaust pipe were buried under deep snow.

Its not only with snow, I do much car travel during my holidays, and already took my "rather-not-so-offroad-capable" BMW on some sketchy roads here there (not intentionally i am always careful, but you rely on the GPS in unknown areas and sometimes it happens) One time this was in eastern europe, in some woods at night with proper blair witch feeling, and the road kept getting worse. Then its not the question will I make it out without the embarassment needing roadside assistance but - "who and if will come for assistance around here if I called ?" 😂 - sure was a adrenaline trip until finding the way out. Even in western europe, travel can be "adventurous" I was chilling on some Highway resting area as feeling tired, when a police man suddenly appeared, knocked on the window and asked me to continue "for my own safety". So I am less afraid of the nature, rather of the weirdos running around.

Not sure if this will be a helpful tip, but if you want to avoid having to walk and find a bathroom, especially at night and in snowy/bad weather, bring along a 5 gallon bucket to use as a toilet. You can use a pool noodle as a ‘seat’…and Amazon even sells toilet seats that actually fit on 5 gallon buckets. Throw in a trash bag and kitty litter inside the bag and it’s an instant toilet. Not ideal but saves you the hassle of having to leave your nice warm van on a cold, snowy or rainy night and any possible dangers there may be out there. Stay safe and loved your video.

From my experience, as long as your front tires are turned in either direction, you’re not going anywhere. Was about to just say it, never turn your front wheels before you actually move, especially in snow. While van is not truck it's much havier then regular car, beside making it a lot harder to move in snow even on dry pavement turning in place puts heavy strain on everything that's connected to front wheels, in have vehicle it can even ruin front tires. Always move first then turn if you drive anything other then passenger car.

I think a good thing to cook is buy some cooked shrimp 🍤 and make some Angel hair pasta and then on a tiny pan or sauce pan take some margarine (preferably blue bonnet brand or similar) and pour garlic powder over the margarine, mixing it as you go and then pour it over the Angel hair and shrimp. It’s shrimp scampi but cheaper

This is my dream! We grew up going snow hiking. People thought we were nuts! But it is an experience like no other. With the salmon you throw a little bit of salmon seasoning from Costco it is killer. It has just a touch of dill in it. Masks any "fishy" taste. Keep living our dreams!

That's why it's always good to have survival kits inside your car not only towards but water candles matches etc and an extra battery and cell phone and these things should be in your car every time you're going to take a trip or vacation because you never know what can happen you always have to be ready especially if you have children

Especially in a 2WD van. They are the WORST vehicle to drive in the snow-PERIOD.I own a full sized GMC with AWD and it’s a game changer.Had 3 of the actually-all ordered new. I believe Ford has AWD too-a new feature to those Transits, within the last few years.

Hell of a scary storm. Not many brave people have the opportunity to do this. Great video. A true survivalist perspective on how to hunker down. Many great tips , and especially the threatening of severe weather alert’s broadcasting along the trek to find a place to Batton down the hatches, adds to the excitement of getting tucked in and under blankets with a full belly.

If you plan on vanliving in snowy/rugged areas, a front winch is definitely a good investment. Also a small, portable wind turbine like RV Living reviewed for when its cloudy, dark or snowy

Wow, these places really exist! Breathtaking! It’s like you’re in a literal Christmas card! I can’t believe our ancestors lived in that without modern conveniences! I saw a woman make a ‘beef’ stew in her car with mushrooms, onions, carrots and she cut up sliced roast beef. I think she added chicken broth and coleslaw! Something like that would be perfect or a pasta fagioli (Italian chili). Copycat recipe can be found online. It’s basically just opening cans, and dumping in a saucepan after browning your hamburger meat. It’s perfect for that weather!

Levitating bed is cool idea. One of the most under-used areas of a camper van/ caravan is usually the upper areas. Thanks for this interesting & entertaining video. The views of the forested wilderness are wondrous. I'm watching from a much warmer, moderate latitude in England. I'm now subscribed.

You know right now I’m working on a fanfiction graphic novel to practice with and it’s about how a group crashes in a massive storm and try to stay warm inside a pick up truck full of farm food. I was inspired by a massive snow collusion in 2021 on a highway. People were there all night but they were rescued and there were no deaths. I’ve been working on this small graphic novel for over a year now and I’m still working on it. You are a man with perseverance and positive thinking just like the character in my novel. Thank you for sharing this with us
