Winter storm triggers flooding in areas of Manville, N.J.

Some areas of Manville including North Second Avenue and Main Street were under water following the storm. The rain has ended for now in New Jersey, but rivers are continuing to rise toward crests at various flood stage around the state - with another strong storm on the way Friday.

Manville has been flooding as long as I can remember. It’s a shame, because it’s a good town.

Big Surprise! I moved out of Manville years ago. I Called it flood central because of all the flooding.

If it were that easy to move, I think people already would've. Manville is not exactly known for its wealthy residents.

@@isabelisameme agreed but it's either find a new place to live, or continue to wade through a newly formed tributary of the raritan river in their living room every couple months. Doubt anything is in the plans to prevent it from happening again.

@@0blivioniox864 Literally every few months. I used to live out there, but up on the hill. We were well above the floodline and never had any issues at all, even during hurricanes. A shame about the other residents that are below the floodline though. This is a recurring thing.

Manville right now is an “island”. You cannot get in or out.

But... Gov Phil Murphy was on target and called a State of Emergency for NJ more than 12 hrs beforehand! Adults and parents, your choice to listen. Your choice to send your child to school despite Gov Murphy's timeline of State of Emergency. Hopefully he will also assist the citizens in our recovery as it is our recovery!
