Winter SUP river run in sub-zero weather

Standup paddle-boarding down the river Eden from Cupar to Guardbridge in sub-zero snowy weather. I'm no expert at SUP so it was an adventure! I was lucky enough to meet a beautiful otter. It was a cracking Scottish adventure!

An inspired and ingenious variation on the exercise theme Tom! Well edited mixture of aerial/onboard/wildlife/landscape footages. Wild ocean clips explain the (often hairy) inland adventure instead! One brave and energetic voyage. Bring on foraging & fun in the sea soon.

What an amazing trip mate! I have to say, you’re absolutely certifiable to take a paddle board down a river in sub-zero temperatures 😅❄️ but it does make for some great content, really cool to see the otter! Liking the bright yellow Casio, I’ve got the same one in bright pink, such cool little watches 👌🏼

Cheers! It was a fun project, planning and execution. Yeah the F91 is a great little watch. Almost indestructible and super cheap. As accurate as a Rolex!

We're you wearing a wetsuit or dry suit on this? Great video, hoping to do a lot of winter paddling where I live in Lake Tahoe CA

This was in a drysuit. Temperature was about -2 so ice was building on everything.

Brilliant - Loved this video. I'm thinking of doing a similar thing down the Dighty burn in Dundee. However, you've brought to my attention the overhanging trees. I've just ordered the Clever Airpro X1 Inflatable Kayak (with removable fin). Do you think tree branches could / would burst an inflatable kayak?

Honestly, I’m not sure. I guess it’s a risk but I imagine they are tough with a helpful amount of flexibility. I think the bigger risk is capsizing it and getting knocked out. Remember though, don’t use any kind of leash on your paddle - things being tied together can be very dangerous in moving water. Better to lose items downstream than to be snagged and dragged under!

It’s a drysuit made by Typhoon. Designed for sailing etc. I had a bunch of warm layers underneath.

Do you think you could make the same GPS trail on Google Earth with a phone? Any help would be great!

You can make the GPS tracks easy enough on Strava or whatever. You can animate them in ReLive app but its not so flexible. Not sure if Google Earth on the phone could do this - It took my macbook pro 20 minutes to render the 3minute video so its a heavy task - don't know!
