Must the nylon be transparent ? Will a shelter work which is made of rough, coloured nylon that is used to cover over truck loads etc.
@SurvivalSchoolHouse4 жыл бұрын
An enclosed shelter will hold in more heat with your material than nothing for sure, but the reason for the transparent material is for the easier reflection of heat from the mylar (space blanket) material. Truck tarps are heavy duty which would still make a great shelter.

How far is the fire from the shelter? Seemed like embers were drifting toward plastic, which is highly flammable.
@SurvivalSchoolHouse3 жыл бұрын
About 3', it mainly will burn little pin holes if the wind blows hard but that's rare, when embers reach the plastic they have cooled and bounce off. If definitely could burn a hole if flame is on it, but flame up of the plastic doesn't spread because the plastic isn't balled up and can't feed of itself.

The setup that you made imo was paired for a siberian fire. You would have heat flow under your bows, and you would not have needed the plastic as a protector. Your aluminum sheet would direct the heat upon you. And the fire would burn at least 6 hours for a continuous sleep..Its funny but not many doing these winter survival videos use a siberian fire setup I think its the most eficient source of heat for cooking and heating ones domain.just my 2 cents, overall great video
