The vents for the dash come from a 91-95 Caravan. Raiding the parts bin is a great thing. When the magazines pitch a fit about it remember that raiding the parts bin means being able to having affordable parts and in other cases being able to have parts at all.
@jamesellsworth9673 Жыл бұрын
Not to mention that the same parts bins were raided by the manufacturer to make the car in the first place!
@mds2465 Жыл бұрын
speaking of the caravans, I remember that some of those caravans had the shredder valves on the a/c systems that were not removable and if they ever went bad the owners often were faced with the burden of having to replace the whole a/c line or whatever unit/assembly that the valve was built into from the factory. Not sure if your Viper has this same setup or not but if so there's a good chance you may find yourself in the same sort of predicament as well! It is also my understanding that most if not all of the a/c system components for these cars are not available in the aftermarket, so you may also be faced with having to get parts from your local Dodge dealership for that a/c system should you need to replace anything. Hope this helps!

Parts swapping is awesome. Back in the 80s, I needed a new wire harness for my 340 Duster. As a little research showed, the engine harness for a 340 was identical to that with a 318, except for the addition of a couple of easily reproduced wires (electric choke on the TQ) Went to my local junkyard. Back then, they were all pretty much pick yourself. Got a pristine harness out of a 73 Dart four door for $10. The great thing about junk yards, is that there are tons of things that you don't know you need, until you see it. My manual window cranks were kinda flimsy/cheap. Subbed a pair in, out of a big Chrysler for $5. One day, I'm just "browsing".........Back then, most Dodge/Plymouth gloveboxes were made out of cheap cardboard. They sucked, even when new. Anyway, I'm "browsing".......and I find a late build Dodge Dart four door, with a molded, one piece, glove compartment. Needless to say, I latched onto that. They asked $1. That piece is in my current Dart Sport. Since then, I've looked at every wrecked "A" body I've ever run across, and haven't found another.

whats great from junkyards are those little parts.. like a plastic cover for a bolt, or a volume knob, a certain electrical connector.. things that would be 15 bucks at a store are super cheap at the junkyard. i love them
@bizjetfixr8352 Жыл бұрын
@@GlycerinZ Fifteen bucks, assuming it's even available. For a lot of Mopar guys, used/salvage/junkyard parts were the only parts available, until around Y2K. It was at the point I was buying stuff that I had no immediate need for because it was cheap and/or it was hard to find. Conversely, sometimes you would run across stuff that was in a lot better shape/more functional than what you currently had in the car. You buy it and upgrade, but keep the original.

Currently about $100 a set. The Back rear intake bolt requires an extension and a very narrow 10mm universal socket, to be able to get between the runners...such as the snap-on socket . Actually, the Neon 2.0/2.4 coil packs had terminals sticking out from the sides of the coil pack. The coil pack on your Viper with four terminals that stick straight up come from a very limited production on the 2.2L Lotus DOHC Turbo 3 intercooled engine in the 1991-1992 Dodge Spirit R/T (I've owned three 1991s) and the 1992-1993 Dodge Daytona IROC R/T. And that was the only distributorless engine, the Turbo 3 until the Neon went into production in very late 1994. All other engines in the AA platform (Spirit/Acclaim/LeBaron Landau) were distributor with a traditional coil. I think it was 1995 or 1996 that the Viper went to using both coil packs with side terminals.

It is an absolute PITA to find which common parts were used on the Gen I and Gen II Viper's. Such as, outside of the quick disconnect, the base of the clutch slave cylinder is from the '90's Ford F-250, or that the spindles are from the Dodge Dakota, or that the turn signal lenses are the same size as those on a small trailer.
