I've been using a Buddy heater for years and two things I learned is (1) Always use a filter when hooked to a #20 or any size tank.Filter not needed for 1 lb. tanks. (2) NEVER have your Buddy heater on with fuel tank in same enclosed space. It should ALWAYS be outside of area your heating.

Heater works great! Only down side is once the truck is all sealed up it gets too warm but you don’t want to leave it running too long anyway

Mine doesn’t fair too well either to be honest! Having a couple of nice warm jackets and a decent sleeping bag for them helps but it can be a lot of extra weight to carry when backpacking
