That little island is Fannette Island and has a tea house. There is also a Viking house across from there. My happiest time in life was at South Lake. Came up from Citrus Heights and there was 5 feet of snow in the woods even though it was late May!! Glad to see you're not in blizzard conditions!

Been to South Lake. Forgot where I ate. Wasn't Stateline tho. Saw the sunset on the Boulevard. Saw a bear, 30 yards from my car in Richardson campgrounds south lake. Kiva dog Beach is nearby. I've been to the emerald bay lookout as well and across the street you should have hiked to eagle lake trail. Only an hour. Well if the trail conditions weren't a mess which they probably were...in the summer tho! The dog loved it. Even in summer that lake was COLD but he didn't care.

Camped at the same spot (Blackwood Canyon Sno-park) few times this ski season until Forest Service posted no-overnight sign recently. You got lucky. Overnight is not allowed in Sno-parks inside Tahoe basin.

I have been van camping closer to kirkwood, that parking lot gets a few vans and campers every night. but weekends it maxes out. we did mammoth in November lots of great places to park and hot tub. i need to vlog more.

Mammoth will be better, they have master groomers there. It's higher in elevation so the snow stays better than Tahoe. Have fun, for a great hamburger go to Burgers on Minaret. Get up early and head to the Chair 2 parking lot (Mill Parking Lot). Can't stay overnight but it's practically ski in and ski out. Stump Alley is a nice central area to start and finish the mountain. Enjoy you guys and thanks for sharing your adventures.

It's all Spring skiing from now on no matter where you go. Hard pack in the morning and softens up in the afternoon elevation is irrelevant in the Spring time. I always park at Mills too. I do agree they have great groomers because of all the So Cal skiers/borders that can only ski/ board groomers!!

Taylor is looking more comfortable and confident on the snowboard. $5.29 a gallon 😱 I average 11.6 mpg. I camped in the ski resort parking lot when we drove the jeep out to Tahoe to run the Rubicon trail. Always a thumbs up 👍

I live a hour and a half from Lake Tahoe, very hard place to go to these days, since the Pandemic it is super busy everyday, when I go I am stuck in the car most of the time because there is no parking anywhere, so I usually resort to a getting a Hotel Room just for a place to park and get out of the car.

Here in BC, we just went back into another 2 week state of emergency -- they're calling it a "Circuit Breaker" ( I have another name for it, lol ). What's the definition of insanity again? Could you please tell me where you camped in Tahoe City? When you're down in Mammoth go to June Lake Brewery, they have a great food truck there. We usually camp in June Lake when we go to Mammoth.

Now that you’ve lived in your van a while, do you ever wish you had windows in the “middle” section? I’m in the middle of my build and deciding whether to put windows there. Instead of bunk windows, I’m going with the CR Lawrence OEM ones.

Not really for the middle section you lose insulation. Whatever window you put in back make sure it’s able to open unless you have AC
