Your plate solution is to install an in-set butcher block sink cover. Alternatively, you do have enough space on the side to install a folding shelf, just make it for half of the area, so the electric is not covered. You're welcome. Awesome build!!

Making the flip-up table with a cut-out to accommodate your outlet might be a good idea as well as a cutting board that covers your sink to give you the extra space you need.

Yep I agree, but that requires more work and I’m ready for the road and don’t want to look back!

@@MathersOnTheMap Love your van and videos! A quick easy fix for that sink cover. Get a plastic cutting board a little bigger than the sink opening, then hot glue four short pegs on one side that fit the sink hole. I worked for us! While you're at Walmart getting the board, get a couple of bins or baskets that fit those cabinet shelves. Then you can slide them in and out like drawers without the extra weight, work, and expense. Happy travels!

@@MathersOnTheMap You’re welcome. I live in a 3 bdrm house and I’m never happy with my cupboards. But we can always tweak anything, so here’s a little tip. If you can’t find one long basket to contain all the stuff in your cupboards, than use two baskets you like and put the things you use the most in the front basket. This way, if you have to get something from the back basket, you can place the front basket aside while you search in the back one, quick and easy, puff! no mess. :) Enjoy your travels, stay safe, and God Bless.

As far as putting a plate next to the stove when you're cooking, I've seen a lot of tiny houses that had cutting boards fitted to cover the sink opening in order to provide additional countertop space. Somebody has probably already suggested this but hey, here it is again for what it's worth.
@DeniseReedis4 жыл бұрын
Have a tip for your drawer regrets! Add a tray, box top or basket in the shelf. You won't have to dig or loose the storage width on your shelf.

Cool build. I'm surprised with that much battery power you didn't go with fixed induction cooktop. No more propane to worry about, less heat generated when cooking, less moisture, faster cooking times, adds more counter space, more compact, etc. You guys should really think about induction. 300ah on lithium is plenty.
@MathersOnTheMap4 жыл бұрын
Yea maybe you’re right, I’d be cautious to use the hot water heater and the induction cook top on the same night especially now that we’re heading into winter with less sun light. We do have the isolator to charge us right up if we needed but still. Taylor prefers gas stove top so that’s why we went with it but having propane in the van isn’t the safest I know
@jayvee53984 жыл бұрын
@@MathersOnTheMap right, that would take up some juice. Then you'd have to add 2 additional BB batteries. But yeah I understand, got to keep the ladies happy.

Shower Door SOLUTION - on the edge of the door attach very small rare earth magnets. And small / thin metal plates or other rare earth magnets on the frame. And you need to keep your fire extinguisher OUTSIDE of a hard to access cabinet and behind several items in front of it. Preferably mounted on a wall. And a carbon monoxide detector is a must.

To have space next to the stove, plus drawers, possibly change out your kitchen cabinet and put the sink on the end, then the stove, with drawers below? While you are changing it out you could put the electrical in a different location to free up the end for a flip up workspace. Or have the cabinet doors open and have baskets that pull out to access things farther back, or even an inner drawer. The cabinet doors will keep them from sliding out. I am not sure there is a 'perfect' build:) Your van is lovely.

Insert K-cup, pour in some hot water, and slowly press into your coffee cup. I haven’t used it myself, but I can’t imagine why it would make the same good coffee as the Keurig machines. Hey, I have watched a lot of van conversations on KZbin and have found yours to be one of the best sprinter conversions ever. Good attention to detail, great features, build and layout. New subscriber! Keep up the good work and looking forward to catching up on previous and new content .

Mathers On The Map did you keep a rough outline for the cost of the build?

I've seen on videos where the sink is multi purpose. It might be too late but what about a cutting board insert over the sink so you have cooking work space on your right. Beautiful home and love your banter -- diarrhea medicine is truly important on the road 🤣
