It's a mod that replaces the Autumn season map with a winter season map. Look it up on the Il-2 Forums and install with JGSME. It's easy to toggle on/off for when I set mission during the winter 1942 stalemate. Vanilla pilot careers don't let you play Kuban during the winter, but PWCG let's you start a career from June 1942 and play all the way through until 1944, so I like to toggle this map mod in late November

Yes the US supplied 37mm HE rounds I think the Reds did eventually receive 37mm AP after numerous requests for them.

I think so. The game gives an option of Armor piercing rounds but I didn't take them

Why the Airacobra has this weird whistling sound as the P-40 does not? They uses basically the same engine (different subvariant very surely), but so different sound?

The P-40E we have is an earlier version of the Allison 1710 with no automatic manifold pressure governer. The P-39L engine is a later model Allison 1710 with automatic governers, but the whine comes from the supercharger on the P-39L, which the P-40E does not have
