I love your Cardinal. It has occurred to me that the female Cardinal is seldom featured but her colouring is quite beautiful- subtle and magical. It would be lovely to see the female featured with the more flamboyant male behind her. 21:00

i am prepared to suffer the ads as you do excellent tutorials and great wet on wet landscapes, techniques and animal paintings for beginners. I do get fed up with some KZbinrs going on and on about selling things to you, and stuff that is totally unrelated to art and they are just being used as tools to fob off tat. Your time and effort is appreciated and I am glad you don't go on and on about selling things.

This is by far my favorite! Cardinals hold a special place in my heart. They are said to represent loved ones that have passed away. I lost my only child 5 years ago. She was only 27, so that makes me love cardinals even more.

@@ellencrimitrent I also love your idea of splattering white Gouache onto the damp watercolour, what a lovely effect, then at the end when you splattered white again, it really does look like the snow is just not in front of you, its diffused so looks like background. This is also a great idea I would never have thought of myself. I expect that effect wet on damp could be used on undersea paintings? I think it's the best snow I've seen. Thank you. 💐

I printed a picture of a cardinal on a branch to trace, which helped a ton. Otherwise my cardinal looked a little derpy no matter how many times I tried to draw it!

Enjoyed painting this but I did have difficulty getting my feathers to look good. This was a good learning project. Now I need to practice painting with the tip of my brush. Many of the pine needles turned out thicker than I wanted them to. Oh well, practice makes perfect, right?
