Function over fashion is the only way we survive here in Minnesota near the Canadian border. Skin, eyes, ears, fingers and toes can freeze instantly around here. For example, for the last two weeks our temps have ranged from 0 to -20f daytime to -5 to -35/-40 at night!! Believe it or not our largest city; Minneapolis; is still up and running in these temps. I’m not sure why we stay here, except the state is beautiful and there’s tons of outdoor activities!!

Joel and his parents grew up there. So, they're used to this cold weather. When I moved to the tropics, it took about 3 months for my body to acclimate to the high heat and high humidity. When I moved to a four-season state, it took many years to acclimate to the winter cold. Some people are the opposite and can't tolerate heat.

@@A_Stable_Life I understand the stable situation and how much work it is to clean them out the stalls in the morning. I just worry about the negative temperatures, wind, and body moisture from rain or snow. It seems to be too risky. I know there is a shelter by the stable, is there a wind break shelter in the pasture? Is there a thicker warmer coat that can be used in the winter?

@@darlaherbst5929 I appreciate your concern. Don't worry they are definitely happy. They do have shelters in both pastures that offer shelter from wind and rain.
