Beautiful to us Floridians ... but we don't have to work in it, so God bless you! I've experienced 13 degrees all day in Tallahassee back in 1969, but that's as cold as I've had. I laughed at your slip/fall down, but was very impressed with how you got in there so easy. And thanks for taking the time and effort to set up all those camera shots.

Function over fashion is the only way we survive here in Minnesota near the Canadian border. Skin, eyes, ears, fingers and toes can freeze instantly around here. For example, for the last two weeks our temps have ranged from 0 to -20f daytime to -5 to -35/-40 at night!! Believe it or not our largest city; Minneapolis; is still up and running in these temps. I’m not sure why we stay here, except the state is beautiful and there’s tons of outdoor activities!!

Sorry Joel but you can have your cold, snowy winters.I lived 25 years in New Jersey. While I had snow growing up in North Carolina, it was not as much as New Jersey. Last year I was there we got too many snows but last one was up to windows in second story house. We had to use snow blower to make tunnel for dogs to go out. Our Weather here T Gulf of Mexico has not been nice. Our high was 48 with low of 22. Thank you and your family for all the care you give to your horses. You can’t say it’s cold and snowing I’ll just skip feeding today.

Joel and his parents grew up there. So, they're used to this cold weather. When I moved to the tropics, it took about 3 months for my body to acclimate to the high heat and high humidity. When I moved to a four-season state, it took many years to acclimate to the winter cold. Some people are the opposite and can't tolerate heat.

@@A_Stable_Life I understand the stable situation and how much work it is to clean them out the stalls in the morning. I just worry about the negative temperatures, wind, and body moisture from rain or snow. It seems to be too risky. I know there is a shelter by the stable, is there a wind break shelter in the pasture? Is there a thicker warmer coat that can be used in the winter?
@A_Stable_Life

@@darlaherbst5929 I appreciate your concern. Don't worry they are definitely happy. They do have shelters in both pastures that offer shelter from wind and rain. Hope things stay frozen for a while now!!!

The wind here in my neck of the woods, ESE AZ the winds were 30 mph sustained and gusts to 50 mph for 36 hours solid. I’m not a hater of breezes but gales aren’t not my friend! When I had my horse (years ago) we would also give her what my step dad called "sweet mash". She was probably a little bit over weight. But, we don't like underweight, skinny (with their ribs showing) horses. They just seem very uncared for. I was out of L.P.N. school when my step dad sold her.
