Looks like you found a fine hat, and frock. Can't remember where I got it, however Bertha has a brass ram rod that comes with a threaded cleaning jag that when removed, exposes a bullet puller. It fits under the barrel as it should flush at the end of the barrel. Now I wished I had purchased a dozen of them as I can't find one like it. It does add weight to the front, but I like it that way. Plus side is the ram rod has been tucked under that barrel since 1982, under every condition know to a mountain man. On the other side I have had to replace a retention spring once to keep it in place. Oh and I have never used the bullet puller. Better to have a tool and not need it, than not have it and need it. Oddly enough my range rod as it were is a 5' long 7/16" diameter piece of hickory with a brass tip on one end, also been around as long. Mountain man.

Hey Brian! Thank you for sharing this with us! I am always interested in the gear other people use... how it "rides" as they mover around. The Woods Walk is a good way to see this. I particularly admire your combination Powder Measure/Short Starter! It is a very clever idea that I intend to copy! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!

I agree, and yes, I am happy to say I thought that up one day. It works well. I made one I lost this fall that worked better, it's dowel rod in a bear femur bone. I'm making another to replace the one I am using now in the video which is made from a G2 off an 8 point.

It's a gun I built this summer and I didn't really follow any particular school. I looked at the Jon Schreiht rifle in the Schumway book, as well as a few others but basically went for a gun with Germanic features, and to date 1750-60.
@wish2fish37
@wish2fish37 Жыл бұрын
Amazed at the fast ignition on that gun.Hang fire probably leading cause of misses with these guns. I am sure alot people struggle with that.Practice is the key to these guns for sure.Do you think the type of lock is a key to fast ignition?Kicked around putting an L&R lock on it.Have the stock TC with a Green Mountain barrel on my TC.Trying some English flints this year and got some French Amber ones also.Getting ready to head out in 4C next week.

Yup, a quick lock, polished parts and so on to give that result along with a sharp flint does wonders. I prime with 3F. It's as fast as it needs to be. Try stonewall creek for flints. I buy 80 at a time from them.

@@wish2fish37 I have not. Brad Emig did it all to this lock, I was struggling to get this lock to where it needed to be. I work way through fine sandpapers and to steel wool to get it all shined up. Buffing wheel on a Dremel tool as well

Thanks TC, I don't change my loads for target, I always shoot the same charge. Might be wasteful but I like to keep things the same. 80 grains 3F. I do lube with bear oil/ beeswax instead of spit when hunting account of cold weather.
