Winter Yellowtail on the JRI STINGER 4 Surface Iron

Something slightly different. Can't catch them every time but you can't catch em on the couch! Fished one day in La Jolla on my boat for one 26lb yellowtail caught on the JRI Stinger 4 Surface iron. I caught that fish on a United composites wahoo 40-60lb rod with a Shimano torium 16hg and 60lb power pro. The other day I skunked while fishing on a Hobie Outback kayak but at least I did see some life in La Jolla.

Something different. Kept the first part kinda raw just so you can see how clueless I am while fishing lol. But you aint catching if you're sitting on the couch so it's always nice to get out there and check the conditions out!

Nice to see you get out on a Kayak once in a while. Bryan. I got lazy, since getting my Solo Skiff on July1st 2020, I haven't taken my kayak out. It's more off a work out, but it also is so much fun, because it's so much quieter and a little closer to nature. Like you said, "Can't catch one on the couch at home". Nice Yellow the week before. Man I'm missing that beautiful sound of drag screaming and rod flex from the head shakes. Got to get back out soon, see you out there. Yeewwww!

Depends on your budget. Ive heard the tac 90 or tac 80 from seeker is an insane option. I like the okuma pch 80XH

The setup i caught the yellowtail on was a united composites 90wahoo and a torium 16hg. The green rod i was using was a goofish PE3-6 jigging rod and i was casting the surface iron on the kayak with a Truline d8
