To be honest, I always thought your Booker project was naturally a multi year one, so trying to cram it into one year seems superhuman to me, as in no human could do it and live a normal life around it. So bravo for slowing it down. Maybe a New Year’s resolution not to expect yourself to be super human ? Your channel is extraordinarily wonderful, thank you.

I’m glad you have decided to be kind to yourself. Katherine May’s book resonated with me too.

Wonderful to hear you being kind to yourself, and giving yourself a break. I picked up Wintering in a charity shop earlier in the year and thought it sounded wonderful, thank you very much for the reminder to get it out and read, and also to contemplate on the beauty of winter 😊

It doesn't get cold and dark where I live but I've been trying to keep up with holiday stuff, BookTube stuff, everyday stuff, and organize and direct a family problem from afar. And my body has of course revolted with a cold. So I'm feeling this topic! These books sound so intriguing. Working with winter and not against it sounds healthy. I like your gentler plan!

Watching this from Hamilton Island, Northern Australia, where it's currently 35 degrees and 90% humidity trying to imagine the harsh English winter while drinking rosé in the sun...

Happy to see that you are taking good care of yourself. Whenever you finish for Booker project, I'll watch the video. I love Wintering and I put a hold on How to Winter, because it sounds exactly like my kind of book. Happy Christmas 🎄, Bob, and a wonderful new year! ✨ Thank you for all your wonderful book reviews.

Those wintering books sound really interesting. I actually have two other wintering books started from last year, so I won't start these, but they're going on 'the list'. Happy reading! I hope you find just the right books, or whatever your mind needs this time of year. 🌨

Loved Katherine May’s book, must reread it. I’m doing something similar with my reading in Dec, taking it easy. I think it’s right that you take your time to savour and enjoy the end of this project rather than rushing the end.

What a good idea. Be kind to yourself and relax. The Booker books you want to finish won’t disappear. We won’t disappear. Hot and wet where I am and although not dark can be just as mood altering. All the best Bob 😊

Watching vehicle eating a big bowl of porridge for breakfast, followed by a pint mug of tea. I don’t like going out in winter unless I have to. Today I have to go to the dentist. It’s not laziness. I’ve got breathing difficulties ( a combination of asthma and age) so I avoid the cold air. I think hibernation should be an option.

I'm the UK version . I often thought that holidays would be better spent in the summer when it would actually be pleasant and not bitter to venture out of my house too buy gifts and take part in festivities . It would be different if government policies and work environments allowed us to hunker down and hibernate like sensible creatures but as it is, you have to take time off at your own expense . I'll grant you that a very fresh dusting of snow has its own beauty but beauty without warmth doesn't do it for me neither in people nor the harsh and foreboding landscape .
