Winterizing a Rockwood Mini lite 2205s

In this video I share how I winterize our Rockwood Minilite 2205s. How to winterize an RV, winterization tips, RV winter storage, prep RV for winter, Rv plumbing protection for winter RV freeze protection. Please note It is not necessary to use air to blow out the water lines. I like to do it so it blows out the water in the inside filter. also as stated I replaced the anode rod early, it’s still serviceable I just decided to change it out. keep your pressure relief valve open when you drain the tank ...it will run quicker ..,thanks for the vid , we ordered a new 2022 Rockwood 2205s , hopefully it won't be delayed too long given the way the world is ! i saved your video and subscribed ...!

I cannot thank you enough for your videos. It’s a shame that rv sales places do such a poor job of teaching a newbie about the systems on your new rv. All of them are set up a little differently. They seem to want your money but not your loyalty. The walkthrough they do with you is hardly worth the time they take especially if it’s your first camper! I’m saving these videos to my camper you tube folder so that I can do these things for myself instead of spending so much money for the “professionals” to do it for me.

Thanks, you are supposed to unplug the panel up top. I decided against doing it because our plugs are covered in dicor roof sealant from the factory. We keep Belle inside a warehouse, I usually put a cover on the solar panel & carefully disconnect the cables going to the battery and put electrical tape on the positive end of the solar at the battery. However, draining our low level lines was a real pain and I would like to make the change that you did. I removed my water filter, and just use a filter at the outdoor faucet to catch any sediment.

Tony I have a 2109s and I followed your winterizing video to a tee great instructional video by the way. I have a couple of questions though. The 1st one is after the antifreeze is in should I put the valve under the bathroom sink back to the original position or leave it in the winterizing position all winter. The 2nd question is should I put back the anode back in the hot water tank she inside is completely dry and take the hot water tank valves out of by pass mode for the winter or leave the hot water tank in by pass mode for the winter or leave all valves as you state in the video until spring

Hello, best to leave the water heater in bypass mode. Come spring when you sanitize the water system, you will not want any of that mixture to enter the water heater. Also, I usually screw in the anode rod so I don’t misplace it. Come spring I’m going add a couple gallons of distilled vinegar and top the water heater off with water. I will let that mixture sit overnight and flush it out with water. Then I will put in old or replace the anode rod for the next season.

Tony what about the valve under the bathroom sink, should I leave it in winterize position or put it back to original position. One more question, I have no water filter under my bathroom sink or by my water heater do you know if the 2109s was equipped with one?

I would put that valve back to the freshwater tank position so come time to sanitize you will be all set. What year is your 2109?

Rockwood switched in 2023 to an exterior water filter only. The exterior type should have come in a package when you purchased it.

At 18:38 when you run through the shower miser, you said it diverts to the fresh tank? I didn’t think it was advisable to put antifreeze in the fresh tank. I have the same trailer.

Great question! I only run a little thru the line to make sure it gets to the tank. (Not much in the tank itself) Another way to think about it is the antifreeze (RV type Antifreeze) is sitting in the lines all thru the system. So when I sanitize the system it all gets cleaned and sanitized… I hope that answer helps. Thanks for watching & Subscribing!

Thank’s for watching, I have an old harbor freight air compressor. You do not need anything special, just be sure to keep the pressure low around 40 psi to be safe… Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already! Happy Camping!!!!!!

@@TNTRVing Just did subscribe. We are literally ordering a 2205S tomorrow. Hopefully it will arrive by fall. We live north of Dayton, so we're fellow Buckeyes. We've had an Rpod for 6 years, and had a pop-up prior to that, but as we get older, comfort is king. We usually go to the western Nat Parks in the winter, but haven't the last several years. Look forward to watching more of your vids. Maybe we'll cross paths one of these days. Thanks again.

My Rockwood took four gallons of antifreeze but pump won’t pressurize. I can’t get any flow out of faucets. Any ideas?

Check to be sure you have a good seal at the antifreeze hookup outside. You might be sucking air. If you see that the antifreeze is foamy coming out of the fixture, chances are the pump is sucking air.

Also check to make sure the valve under the sink is in the correct position…best of luck

Yes I had the lever on the miser in the up position.. I can hear anti freeze behind the shower, but nothing comes out. I've used 3 1/2 gallons already. So the shower inside and the outside shower hasn't been done yet

I figured out the lever for the shower miser has to be in the down position on our camper. Also the brass fittings that are attached to the black tank flush and antifreeze inlet leak when I'm pumping antifreeze

The stock water filter only filters incoming water from the fresh water tank or the city water connection, not water from the hot water tank, etc. FYI

You are correct, I miss spoke on that. Still a good idea to clean that water heater gunk out. Also not a bad idea to filter the fresh water tank water. Thanks for watching and commenting

If you empty all the water lines with pressurized air from a compressor you do not have to put anti-freeze in any of them!!! Only the P-traps will require anti-freeze!!! Waste of time and money.
