I am also trying to grow those wildflowers with the winter sowing method - in Edmonton. I had success last year with the giant hyssop but the purple prairie clover didn’t germinate for me. But I’m trying again. So glad to see others growing native plants and flowers.

Wonderful! I'm hoping for at least 50% success with my flowers! Thanks for stopping by the channel.

Fun choices! I'm not winter sowing flowers this year. The last couple of years I did Larkspur, Marigolds, and Lavender. The Larkspur did extremely well. I did get one nice Marigold plant. The Lavender was a bust lol. Enjoyed, take care!

I heard larkspur works good in this method but haven't tried growing it yet. I'm trying to sprout some lavender seeds in paper towels right now. They are hard to get going and won't survive my winters.

Thanks for this video. Im in Alberta's and just starting my garden. Im hoping to start Hollyhocks, lupine, delphinium, yarrow, maybe zinnias... do you think this method would work for this? Thanks again

Hello Neighbour! I have had varied success with the flowers, but if you have extra seeds, some good quality potting soil and some jugs might as well give it a try! Lupines and yarrow worked good in this method for me.

3rd week of May or end of May is our last frost date. Maybe I misquoted it somewhere in the video??

I am in Winnipeg. Does this technique work with any kind of seeds? Is it only for wild native flowers?

Hello! Most types of cool weather crops work great in this method. Lettuces, spinach, kale, herbs, brassicas, onions. Check out my other videos and give it a try! kzbin.info/aero/PLBLzuoZhsRBVSq8rpq34vVZwk4vMP4DDF
