The Park Vista Hotel was under a different name in the early 80's. Mike shows it at 16:28 and 18:18. Was it a Sheraton? We had a wonderful youth Southeastern church convention there with about a thousand young people in '81 or so. For many of us, it was the first time we tried skiing ever at Ober Gatlinburg ski resort. I was on the 8th floor with two or three others. The hotel is designed circular and hollow in the center and we leaned against the rails to look up and down the floors on two evenings to join everyone singing praise and worship songs that echoed throughout the building. I revisited the Park Vista in 2009 and it still looked grand. The drive up the hill is unnerving. You should make the drive up the hill, go inside and have a look around whenever you're in Gatlinburg to see the spectacular Park Vista for yourself.

I love Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains in the winter. It's just simple beautiful this time of year. I have also found this is the best time to find good deals on food, store inventory, and entertainment.

My wife Laurie and I have been enjoying your videos! We have visited the Gatlinburg area about a dozen times and never noticed these treasures you point out like NOC, Old Dad's and the Sun Diner. We can't wait to visit these places when we move down there from Rochester NY this Spring. We'll be living in an apartment in Sevierville while our retirement log cabin home is being built in Newport TN. The Smoky Mountain region just feels like home to us. God bless you both.

we ate at Sunliner Diner, sadly, for the late lunch, they failed to get hubby's food for a really long time and then forgot to fix mine for even longer, we had to remind them and they were not busy that day at all, so maybe we will try again for a late breakfast instead

Gatlinburg is not busy at all. I may have to plan a trip one January. I don't know if I would like driving in the snow. I hate crowds so that would be a good time to go. Ole Smoky Candy Kitchen is my favorite. I have my go-to's from there also. I didn't know they had another location. Thanks for the info.
