I loved these comics when I was younger! I read the fan translations on a tumblr site that had them up until the 100’s. For people that think the first 12 issues are too similar, I’d encourage them to read the entire arc. They change enough for it to feel different past the 1st issue and add so much context to certain things that weren’t explained in the show. Such as how the created the name Winx Club or even Tecna’s character butting head with Bloom quite a bit. The comics are also often quite long so stories such as Bloom getting her dress for the dance with Red Fountain are expanded in ways that make a bit more sense too! The comics go off the rails the further you get into them though lol

I wish we had a full digital release of the comics in English instead of this Papercutz release. The new translation has flaws. And I think it would've been far better if each book contained 5 comics or so, not only 3, because of reasons you mentioned. There's too much of a chance people will buy the first few and then drop off. I doubt the Papercutz will end up being complete because there are so many comics.

Omg Wilford hiiiiii oh really? I still haven't picked them up, so I hadn't realised there were translation issues. I know we're unlikely to even get to the 50s of the comics with these releases, but it would be nice if we could at least past issue 20 😭 Also I'd really like to thank you for all the winx soundtrack you make available on your channel.🙏🙏🙏 I hope you are satisfied with the way that I am crediting and linking back to your channel, but please let me know if you'd like it done differently.

Something interesting on the frist season 1 issues, tecna seems to have some sort of animosity trought Bloom because it doesn't understand her more emotional behavior

You know that the comics from the Winx Club Magazine are my favorite media of the franchise! I felt a decline in the S5-6 era with the comics but they were still enjoyable until the S7-WOW era where the plots became more and more childish (I'm still traumatised by this comic where the Winx are fighting a giant ice cream! 😂). Season 8 era was the worst since they squeezed the number of pages from 25 to 6 these last years! 😭 Now, at least, they have bring back the old art style even if it doesn't change the fact that the new comics are... empty. I'm glad you've talked about the artist crediting in your past videos. It give me the will to investigate a bit more on them since I noticed they have sometimes worked on other comics from Rainbow's or other Italian' series (like Angel's Friends for exemple) that I like. On Discord, someone also pointed the fact that there are some differences in the English translations of the comics (even with the Italian releases). Isn't great to still have things to learn about the comics after so many years? ^^ I don't feel interested by the graphic novel of FATE The Winx Saga. Maybe if it get a release in non-English-speaking countries or if someone share the pages via a KZbin review, I would read it. But I think I could live without it. After all, like almost every Rainbow's stuff, it will probably not last beyond the 2 volume announced... =/

Yes! I've been having fun going through some of the artists' Deviantarts and blogs too. It's kind of why it feels kind of silly to do the War of the Italian Magical Girls - there's so much overlap in their creative teams... What's the point? Just enjoy the content! Well, I think I will definitely review the Fate graphic novel, so perhaps that will do the trick...😉

The front pages of the Papercutz releases are pretty underwhelming. They don't look bad per se, but lazy. Familiar old artworks put together on simple backgrounds. Those recently released Italian special collections look better.

Yes, they could just use the old cover art of one of the comics that's most thematically relevant. They're just a lot more characterful.

The comics are some of my favourite piece of media of the Winx show. While I don't own any of them,I've read some of them online and I appreciate them tackling more 'mature' themes that aren't necessarily a thing in the animated show.When Nick became part of the winx even the comics became less good.I think most of those are fine enough but still as you mentioned they mostly lost their charm.Another thing I want to mention is the artstyle.I'm not really a fan of the first couple of comic's artstyle but once we get to the comics that go alonside season 2-5 the artstyle looks great! I hope Rainbow gives the comics a chance to do better alongside fans by also releasing some fan favourite comics to attract the newer audience they've been wanting for years!

Yes, I think so too. They settle into kind of their own unique 'look', that's quite different from that of the series, actually. The earlier ones have this more rounded look, which I like less, but that could also just be nostalgia talking. I was too young then, so my era of the comics is like 45 onward.

I really hope the comics get a successful return!! I love the idea of compiling issues in themes or story arcs, I hope they continue with it

As a long time American fan, I was happy that these comics finally got a proper English translation! I knew it was gonna be a basic retelling at first before it diverges from canon, but didn't mind buying the first volume and even put in my preorder for volume 2

ive been a fan of the show for years but i have only recently discovered the comics. I have been looking into it a little bit and have seen a few different english translations of the original comics, the most common being the 4kids translation. since 4kids majorly changed the tv show with their dub i was wondering if they also changed the comics or if they are a direct translation of the original italian version? thank you

I've always been surprised when I've heard people say that Roxy was supposed to be the 7th Winx since season 4 seems to end with their characters going in completely different directions with the Winx choosing to stay on Earth and Roxy going to Alfea. Suck that the comics are only coming out 3 issues at a time I would really be interested in the original stories if they ever get to that point.
