it's better that they come out now in lab for research rather than having them naturally "revive" after the ice melts. you don't want to fight pandemic with no prior research because that means it is going to be much more terrible pandemic. medicine will come out slower, vaccine will come out even slower, potential deadly virus come out undetected until large scale infection occur. you don't want those things to happen because by that time, maybe the scientists all over the world will be infected from outside world and that will further slow down researches and potentially shut down researches. in zombie movies, the virus spread so fast that research can't be done and later even medicine is not available. why? because they didn't detect the virus until it's too late. at that time, the scientists no longer have access to secure environment thus cannot research medicines. it loops back to further infections with no medicine and preventions thus further endangering scientists. loop over and over until we have no hope to cure. COVID vaccine can come out faster because it is a derivation of SARS and have many prior researchs. even this pandemic can cripple the world for years. so be grateful they found out early and can at least securely research before the actual potential deadly pandemic occur.

Zombie virus is the term given to a virus that is frozen in ice and therefore dormant. It does not mean that it is a virus that will turn you into a zombie, like those in horror movies and shows.
