This is geopolitics. China is setting the stage for new troubles for India. Not only Arunachal, Tibet is also not part of China. China invaded Tibet in 1940s and their occupation continues. Unfortunately, India acknowledged that Tibet is Part of China. If India supported Tibet back then (even just on paper), Arunchal-China would be out of question.

In that sense India was not todays india before British colonization. British colonized and formed todays India, that is why all Indian neighbors do not agree with borders drawn by british.
