Sorry to hear about your grandpa. Thank you so much for your videos, and for sharing some of your journey. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to travel alone to another country. You’re amazing!

I'm so sorry to hear that your grandfather is ill. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Q&A: I'd love to hear more about places you have lived. I've never been abroad, so I find it fascinating to hear about other places.

Prayers and good vibes sent to your dear grandpa. What a fighting spirit he has - I guess that's where you got that lioness heart to jump with both feet in with the teaching abroad. My word lady, you are a brave soul! Q&A: Would love to hear more Culture Shock moments from your first year / first few months living abroad in any of the areas you've journeyed to. I can only imagine just the day to day living, trying to traverse a grocery store, find coffee, shop for clothes, missing some of the favorite comfort foods of home...must have been really challenging at the time. 💕

Thanks! Challenging but oh so fun. Every little thing was like an adventure. It could be taken that way, or taken as every little thing was an absolute pain and chore. I guess it just depends on the person! Thanks for the suggestion!!

You know honey cancer is one of the worst words anyone wants to hear. It is a horrible disease and always so uncertain. Sometimes the chemo works and other times it doesn't so it is the uncertainty that is so difficult to deal with. I am sending healing prayers for your grandfather and hope because that is all you can do. Know that we are all praying for you and want to help you get through such a difficult time. Your video's are always so encouraging and helpful and I think maybe helpful for you too. Stay strong Rachel because I know you are a good person who is strong and positive. As an older person I can say life happens and many things are out of our control. All we can do is deal with them the best way we know how and try to stay as positive as we can. You are doing a great job honey and I am proud to know you. Thanks so much for sharing your life with us Rachel. I really admire all the things you do.

Try to keep your head up about your grandpa's illness. The most important thing for you to do is keep in touch. The last year of my husband's life was a constant struggle to not let our 8 granddaughters see him as a sick old man. He wanted to talk with them but he didn't want them to see his body betray him. Think of playing with your grandpa and talk about it with him. You will be amazed at how much it can raise his spirit. Prayers for you all.

I cracked up laughing at your Ashland, VA, "center of the universe" comment! I live in a small town in Idaho, and the mayor, many years ago, declared it the center of the universe! ROFL. There is even an intersection with a manhole cover that declares it the exact center of the universe. The mayor stated if the EPA could interfere and declare everybody in need of help from all the local mining whether they wanted help or not, and nobody could dispute it, then the city council could declare our tiny town (less than 950), the center of the universe (based on "probalism" an EPA term). Yes, full of themselves, but a great little tourist town, in an area that has had more silver mined than any place else in the world (and that's a true fact!). Perspective: this IS the center of our universe! LOL (only for the last 3 years) Nothing beats small town living (I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania).

I have often dreamed of teaching internationally as you have done, but I was never brave enough to do it! I am sitting here wondering "Is it too late to do something like that at my age????" I did teach here and became a certified Early Childhood Specialist and have an ESL endorsement. I never really used the ESL part of it though. I can keep dreaming...right?💕😊

It was sunny this morning and got a bit overcast around lunch, but it has been dry for 2 days now. Maybe I finally managed to shoo the clouds over to your part of the world XD YES, I had a livejournal, it was AWESOME. Found a lot of friends that way. Oh dear, the cats would kill me, they wouldn't touch hooman-food with a ten foot stick XD Allergies... my mom has been complaining to me for a couple of weeks now that she thinks she is allergic to something and how horrible that was. And I keep telling her, get to the drug store, buy a back of Lorano (also a tablet you can take and for me it takes care of things within 30 minutes) and just take one and see, if it gets better. Do you think she follows that advice? Noooo, of course not, she keeps complaining. People are weird. The stuff isn't expensive, you don't need a prescription, so what's the problem, right?

That is an incredibly unfair and untrue statement. People that live in the country are just as smart if not smarter because they live in an area where survival may be more difficult first of all and secondly because the country is where the beauty and individuality of a country is. I am so sorry you have to put up with such nonsense Rachel. You should be able to work anywhere when you have the qualifications that you have and don't you put up with such a crock of baloney. I think it is terrible that you should have to leave your place of comfort that you love in order to use your gift of teaching full time. I know some pretty dumb people that live in the city so in my opinion it is not where you live but how you live up to what your capabilities are.
