Hi Lee, That makes you officially one of my childhood heros! :) The original is still impressive in its own right! I tried to guess at what might have been artistic decisions and what might be pure technical limitations back then for you. I wanted to lift the technical limitations but not completely skew it away from the feel, pacing and camera angles. Some shots are near identical, a few others look drastically different, mainly the flight over the environment. It's really great that you found this one!

Thanks a lot ! Your music had a profound influence on me back then! Still rocking the OST during workout to this day. :) While I was working on the timing of the cinematic I was always muttering "...wipEout!" to myself at the end. :)

Your attention to detail , realism, and accuracy is absolutely breathtaking. The paint wear ,impact cracks, scrape marks in the tracks... I now know what I want the next Wipeout to look like. This more than a tribute. It's a prototype. I hope Sony is taking notes.

I have so much love for you, wow, this is absolutely amazing! I still remember getting a Playstation on my 13th birthday and sneaking out of bed in the middle of the night before the big day and secretly plugging in the PSX, popping in wipEout and getting to see this glorious intro for the first time. My mind was blown out of space. Packed everything back up and went back to bed, incredibly excited. The wipEout series went on to become my favorite of all time, and played a big part in me becoming a graphic designer. To see this intro remade in such a tasteful, faithful and well-paced way is a huge treat - thank you so much for that! This video needs 50 million views so Sony wake up and make another wipEout!

So Cool The evolution of WipeOut has never been understoud right. Going shiny and arcade shouldn't be the way WipeOut should evolve into, as my friend Lobyz says, "the Gran Turismo of Anti-gravity racers" Refining the subtile gameplay (physics) of the original Getting ever more into graphics realism and beauty All of that into worlds (maps) that are "anticipation" rather than futurism

Not at the moment, no. If at all, I'd do a remake of 3. The 2097 one still looks pretty good in my opinion and is mostly limited due to being low resolution. The intro for part 3 was something very different, that might be cool to redo at some point though.

Thanks James! The intro for the first one suffered the most from technical limitations I felt. The intro for the second title (XL / 2097) released a few years later was already much much better looking and by todays standards suffers mostly from the very low resolution but is otherwise pretty good.

Holy jezus that was fantastic, FANTASTIC! The effort that must have gone into recreating all those assets from scratch with added details given we live in a 4K (& beyond) resolution era. And then there are the animations! I reckon the original helped with the timings of them but that is still a shit ton of time consuming effort. Goodness fucking gracious, half way through I was thinking a 3D animated limited run Wipeout show would be fantastic at this fidelity given Sony, after closing Psygnosis/Studio Liverpool, has likely abandoned any sequels to the franchise for the foreseeable future. Kudos to you again and may your talent and the time you have sunk in this project provide you with unforeseen opportunities.
