Fun fact: pretty old Luigi Fagioli had the proper F1 career after WWII going to 3rd overall in 1950. Another: Manfred von Brauchitsch died as late as 2003 being 97 years old and having proper career in East Germany. Third: HP Müller won the 250cc bike world championship in 1955!

As a former race driver (mostly Porsches) I really enjoy this "Racing The Silver Arrows" series. The strange thing, at the end of this video they show "Professor Porsche" who looks like a twin of my Uncle Albert. I cannot imagine how it felt to drive these cars in the rain with over 500 horsepower and skinny 6" tires. IMHO, this was the very best years of auto racing that we probably will never see again. Thanks again for producing this great racing series. The proper choice of background music of Camille Saint Saens' "symphony 3, was the "icing on the cake". Absolutely superb series!!

2 AMAZING ENGINEERS IN THIS SERIES: Ferdinand Porsche, and Rudolph Uhlenhaut. Porsche designed the Tiger tank for the Wehrmacht, and the Volkswagen. Uhlenhauts work includes the 300sel 6.3, the 300sl, and the 600 series limo. I had a 6.3, and my neighbor had a 600 SWB. amazing cars. Amazing people. I was lucky to have met Vasek Polak, a great man who brought Porsche to the USA.

That couldn’t have been the Hindenburg, it was most likely the Graf Zeppelin II

Yessss. It has been held literally that same weekend when ww2 started. English and French teams retired from racing, so there were just a few cars in top class to compete. Nuvolari won this last GP in Belgrade, and the rest is history……

Hindenburg? This is 1939. The Hindenburg crashed and burned in Lakehurst New Jersey on 6 May 1937! Me thinks Graf Zeppelin.

They forgot to mention that 1939 GP ,held in Belgrade, would be the very last one till the next one after the WW2. The first race meeting following the end of the WW2 took place in liberated France in 1945. It would take five more years to have a proper WC GP event taking place at Silverstone in 1950.

3.21 - this can't be Hindenburg in 1939, because the Hindenburg crashed and burned in 1937

What is the music that plays during the Yugoslav Grand Prix at the end?

That was the beautiful music of Camille Saint Saens, symphony 3, c minor. Perfect music for this series!!

A sad ending, caused by the curse of war. I never look at any racing films later than 1970. Current F1 is just a farce .
