I'd think they made her say “cannabis scientist“ and she's probably versed in a wider spectrum. But anyways, still 100% agree with you. I think most people nowadays are educated and know that yes it's a drug and yes it does have addictive tendencies and yes you should be responsible (just like (legal) alcohol) and no it's definately not harmless (just. Like. Alc.), but just give adults a reasonable choice without having to get criminal. If booze is legal, there are very little arguments for weed being not. Germany is currently getting there, could be we're there in 2024.

I started vaping and smoking cigarettes since my teenage, got addicted to cigarettes. Spent my whole life fighting Cigarettes addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Was actually diagnosed with BPD. Not until my mom recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

After seeing the dry mouth question I wished to share. The best defense to dry mouth is hard candy. Drinking liquids will clean away saliva and mucus making the problem worse while hard candy will greatly promote saliva production and if you use a flavor that can be a minor irritant like cinnamon or mint it will help.

@KelsaRavenlock

@@queueeeee9000 True. I was going to add citrus as it is actually one of the best choices but so many candies now don't have the citric acid or any actual juice in it so I didn't want to lead anyone astray. If it has a reasonable amount of citric acid or condensed juice though it's perfect. Of course the hardest part is not chewing up the candy lol. You want your body to read it as something that is hard to eat and digest.

Thank you for explaining that using cannabis daily for medicinal reasons is not always a problem. Sometimes people who use it recreationally or non users just don't understand. I know some who claim I'm an addict only because I use it daily. I'm in an illegal state, but I have had multiple doctors and therapists who I was honest with about my use agree that it helps me with some issues related to my PTSD/CPTSD.

People also tend to forget that cannabis has a lot if different substances/molecules with different effects. There are different breeds grown for different uses and effects. Some are grown more for the high effect. Others are grown to be more relaxing. And even others are grown that are more effective for things like pain management and nausea reduction, while barely giving you any high effect at all.

You are only concisered an addict if not having it negatively disrupts your life and and and you keep being distracted by not having it untill you buy more. If not smoking is going to mess up your sleep cycle and diet then you are concisered an addict. But people need to cope, not everyone can have the optimal social health and weed is a better coping tool then gambling, binge eating, drinking, promiscuity and thrill seeking

I'd love to save all that money, it's not great for my lungs and weed suppresses your REM sleep at night making it harder to control your emotions and respond to emotions in other people but it's the most effective way to put a lock on my hyperactive behavior and sometimes manic . It's incredibly hard to separate the two. Cannabis has been a part of human society for thousands of years, and the politics go back just as far. Look up Chris Bennett, he's a researcher who has written numerous books on the subject, and has a few good youtube videos out there where he talks in depth. I recall him talking about how in pre-Judaic times, high priests (but NOT the common people) take part in the "meeting of the tent" to anoint themselves (as well as burn incense) with oil infused with, among other things "kaneh bosm" - which is thought by a growing number of researchers to be cannabis.

I'm really grateful to hear Amber come right out the gate with why some people smoke daily, and without any stigma involved. I am so sick and tired of people lumping me in with this pre-conceived notion of laziness, addiction, and bad life choices. I am an auDHD, disabled 24 year old. I have never been on a mood stabilizer that works better for me than weed. I have hEDS, fibromyalgia, and polyarthritis, as well as several cervical spine issues. People need to stop with the unwarranted advice and realize that there are legitimate, natural healing properties in this plant. My mobility, mood, and overall ability to function is completely due to weed at this point in my life. We have to also remember that in the U.S., healthcare is not accessible at all. Weed is far more accessible than healthcare, even in non-legal states. Weed helps me to unmask, and dulls my sensory overload to the point I'm able to manage social interactions a lot better. I also grew up with parents who were addicted to hard drugs, and while obviously people struggling with addiction deserve resources, care, and empathy, I am tired of weed being compared to other addictions. The only reason I am unwilling to stop smoking as of now is because of how well it helps me maintain my health.

I'm an on/off recreational user. I realized that responsible use only has positive effects for me, but as my usage becomes irresponsible, negative effects start to manifest. Below I've listed my subjective positive and negative effects. Positives (responsible usage): insightful thoughts about things you care about (like music production), relaxing activities are way more relaxing and enjoyable, headspace and visuals when tolerance is low, absurd music enhancement, and potentially more complex and intentional art creation or ideas. Negatives (heavy usage): no dreams, weaker and fragmented mental visualization, less thoughts overall, less curiosity and general motivation, and unpleasant mental effects upon quitting (head feels empty and hypnagogic hallucinations are heavily exaggerated, aswell as an inability to sleep that makes you slightly delirious and further intensifies hypnagogic hallucinations) I recommend buying a time capsule case or something, and only taking out enough for you to smoke in a single sitting, then lock the case for atleast 24 hours or beyond. Irresponsible use basically just means addiction for me. And responsible use is about how much space you can create between sessions, so to milk the positive effects and prevent any negatives.

As someone who has been working in the cannabis industry for a few years now and has been invested in the educational aspect of cannabis, this video is amazing. One point I want to add though. On the topic of Indica vs Sativa, The names actually just refer to the manner in which the plant grows. Sativa plants typically have longer, more fanned out leaves while Indica plants have thicker, more bunched up leaves. The reason these terms started to apply to the effect is because of the terpene profiles that were common among the landrace strains. Indicas were typically higher in terpenes like myrcene and linalool. Giving them the relaxing effect that the name is famous for. Whereas Sativas were typically higher in Limonene and Caryophyllene. Which gives an uplifting, euphoric effect. Hope this helps clear up some confusion!
@ABirchwoodVampire

Exactly one grows short and the other grows tall. And both have different percentages of terpenes that effect if it's indica or sativa. The genetics basically shows they are subspecies of each other and not the exact same plants.

I remember also there was a wonderful website called "Erowid Vault". It had an amazing knowledge and a ton of stories written by people using chems. Yes, I checked. Over 20 years later and it's still active 🥰 For me personally, I just hate putting MDMA into a trash bin by FDA. After Alexander Shulgin synthesized it, practically rediscovering it again after over 50 years, he and his team reported a great potential use in psychotherapy, especially for PTSD and couples therapy. And FDA just thrashed the whole thing because it had "metaamphetamine" in its name...

I think that the trend of striving towards maximum THC has actually caused the plant to not feel as great. Having schizoaffective disorder, I could rarely consume weed without tripping out in an unpleasant way, and was about to give up on the plant, that is, until I discovered the anti-psychotic properties of CBD hemp. By mixing hemp and weed to a ratio of about 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1 CBD to THC, the sessions have become almost exclusively successful. I feel chilled out and high with very little paranoia. Mixing sage also improves this a little.

As someone who’s been a smoker themselves, and surrounding by people who partake as well, I’ve seen it countless times where people just cannot quit smoking, even when they’re about to lose their car or something. I’ve always thought the difference between sativa and Indica were the genetics of the plant. However depending on how long you wait to harvest after the trichomes form on the buds will determine whether it’s more of a head high or body high. The longer the plant goes without being harvested the darker and more cloudy the trichomes get. The darker they are they heavier the high feels.

The missing main difference is that resin, both live and non-live, is typically extracted using butane (and often some propane) whereas rosin is purely low, typically induction, heat and pressed.

I can verify the benefits during radiation treatment for cancer. Without smoking I couldn't even take a bite of food without feeling sick and no appetite. With weed I ate a lot and felt much better. It definitley helped with mood and rest. Great video!

Disappointed that she didn't mention the robust evidence suggesting that THC leads to lower quality sleep- this is because of what she mentioned, it disrupts REM. I am pro legalization, but I feel like that is a true and important point for a science communicator to mention.

Also, after over 40 years of smoking, the only "withdrawal" I've seen people have coming off of weed cold turkey is being bummed they aren't stoned. This is understandable seeing as weed is good for helping uplift your mood, so when you have none you don't have that lift and you feel crappier. But nothing more than that.
