That's BULLSH*T. I didn't do a single thing to be color blind yet here I'm. Worse of it, nobody believes me because I'm a woman! :'(
@isadora5826
@isadora5826 3 жыл бұрын
@@ame-chan579 But colorblindness isn't something you develop, of course you're born with it. And just go to an eye doctor and ask them for a test. If you're diagnosed, it doesn't matter if people don't believe you. The OP was talking about, for example, depression, hypertension, cancer, etc. Stuff your genes make a lot easier for you to develop, but your behavior is what ultimately determines if you develop them or not.
@ame-chan579
@ame-chan579 3 жыл бұрын
@@isadora5826 I am diagnosed, yes. My point was that the statement is not an axiom, an absolute statement due to the fact that a lot of conditions you have when you're born also makes your life harder and you didn't do nothing to have them.
@isadora5826
@isadora5826 3 жыл бұрын
@@ame-chan579 I understand! In the case of some diseases/disorders/abnormalities you're born with it and there's nothing you can do. But these are not acquirable. You can't catch or develop colorblindness. But you can develop depression and hypertension by living an unregulated lifestyle. Do you know what I mean?

Don’t respond to it with annoyance, negativity, hate, any negative emotion. Practice consistently being neutral and then responding to it with love instead. This reminds me of my grade 5 class when a speaker came in every week to teach the kids about mental health. We learned about breathing, different coping mechanisms, and even made our own "relaxation toys" which were water bottles with glitter in them. They were used to help us when we were feeling anxious, so whenever that happened we'd focus on the glitter and try to count the glitters in it. It helped!

Really well explained video! But I would like to emphasize that end of mental illness is not just related to brain health, there's also a need to understand if there are any social, emotional personal issues and address them as well. The end of mental illness would be addressing and acknowledging these social-cultural issues, gender issues, and personal issues along with brain health.

(there's so much to it that I haven't seen yet because I rarely use it). There's even one I love that says it's for better sleep! It's obviously not some magical cure but it definitely helps loosen up the right muscles if you go to lie down in bed and feel stiff and uncomfortable. It makes it easier to sink in and relax.

It's only exhausting if you were anxious or had bad mental coping mechanics to begin with. If you were healthy and happy, chances are you are doing all this plus or minus one or two things to begin with. But it's ok, if you know you need help you are already on the right track. Just do these things till it becomes second nature.

What helps me is going to bed at a specific time and actually trying to stay awake. So, say you go to at 10pm, make yourself physically get into bed at that time, even if you're not tired, and try and stay awake. Make a mental note of what you have to do tommorow, what went well today, pray, or just talk to yourself about something. Eventually I'll fall asleep without even realizing it. But theres a lot of different techniques. You gotta find one that works for you.

idk if you're looking for advice, but what helped me was reading a study about how lying down in bed with your eyes closed, quiet, relaxing, even if you're not fully sleeping, is almost as healthy as sleep!! I used to be like "omg only 4 more hours of sleep time left!!!!!" and now I'm like "well at least I'm resting like this"... also, breathing exercises and guided meditations help a lot. I can also recommend the podcast "Sleep With Me", that one's helped me through some tough nights. Good luck 🍀

I don't know about a note pad but there are crayons & markers for the shower meant for kids that you could get. If you write it on the driest wall during your shower it should stay until you wipe it off. I figure you could copy it down or take a pic of it once you get done with your shower. I know Crayola makes a crayon bath set for sure, that will last a while, that is with a rabid 4 yr old smashing them into tile after soaking them in tub for ages to make 'rainbow goo.' Just be careful if your shower walls are porous because the red can leave a slight stain that is a pain to clean.

You can absolutely do it! I'm in the middle of 3 sessions with an hypnotherapist and I'm already feeling sooo much better. Hypnotherapy is like a self-healing modality, where you are completely in control and can pin point events of your past to relive and properly deal with. Also the 'bright mind' acronym talked about in the video is great to keep in mind to have all your bases covered. Believe in yourself! A huge part of it is beliving, knowing that you can help yourself and heal.

For those who became too anxious to finish the video, I recommend this time stamp: 18:06 "If you want to 'fix a broken brain' you can!" He has so much advice for being brain conscious and mentally healthy. A lot of the symptoms he's describing of brain dysfunction are late stage issues that can occur if they are gone *untreated*. But there is so much good news and hope for people with anxiety and memory issues! When in doubt, talk to your doctor or a walk in clinic. Just like this man, they all want to help you!

it's the fight or flight response, your higher brain capacities get shut down to enable a better more automatic stress response for what the brain perceives as a survival situation (because of the levels of stress hormones on the bloodstream). At least for me what helps is going to do something physical of high intensity, like intense exercise, or also crying works, although that's not a thing everyone can do on command.

When I tutored grammar, I'd talk about breaking down the project into pieces that feel less daunting. Instead of thinking I'm writing a paper today, try thinking I'm researching this book or topic right now, or I'm figuring out a thesis, or I'm organizing my arguments around a thesis right now. It also might help to start on paper so that you can have something to put on the blank screen so that the glaring whiteness feels less daunting. Hope that helps!
