Really well explained video! But I would like to emphasize that end of mental illness is not just related to brain health, there's also a need to understand if there are any social, emotional personal issues and address them as well. The end of mental illness would be addressing and acknowledging these social-cultural issues, gender issues, and personal issues along with brain health.
@emerald48122 жыл бұрын
Finally someone who said it! I do agree that brain health will play a very important rol, but it isn’t the only reason. If someone was abused for years that has nothing to do with ‘brain health’.

(there's so much to it that I haven't seen yet because I rarely use it). There's even one I love that says it's for better sleep! It's obviously not some magical cure but it definitely helps loosen up the right muscles if you go to lie down in bed and feel stiff and uncomfortable. It makes it easier to sink in and relax.

What helps me is going to bed at a specific time and actually trying to stay awake. So, say you go to at 10pm, make yourself physically get into bed at that time, even if you're not tired, and try and stay awake. Make a mental note of what you have to do tommorow, what went well today, pray, or just talk to yourself about something. Eventually I'll fall asleep without even realizing it. But theres a lot of different techniques. You gotta find one that works for you.
@annak.94833 жыл бұрын
idk if you're looking for advice, but what helped me was reading a study about how lying down in bed with your eyes closed, quiet, relaxing, even if you're not fully sleeping, is almost as healthy as sleep!! I used to be like "omg only 4 more hours of sleep time left!!!!!" and now I'm like "well at least I'm resting like this"... also, breathing exercises and guided meditations help a lot. I can also recommend the podcast "Sleep With Me", that one's helped me through some tough nights. Good luck 🍀

I don't know about a note pad but there are crayons & markers for the shower meant for kids that you could get. If you write it on the driest wall during your shower it should stay until you wipe it off. I figure you could copy it down or take a pic of it once you get done with your shower. I know Crayola makes a crayon bath set for sure, that will last a while, that is with a rabid 4 yr old smashing them into tile after soaking them in tub for ages to make 'rainbow goo.' Just be careful if your shower walls are porous because the red can leave a slight stain that is a pain to clean.

it's the fight or flight response, your higher brain capacities get shut down to enable a better more automatic stress response for what the brain perceives as a survival situation (because of the levels of stress hormones on the bloodstream). At least for me what helps is going to do something physical of high intensity, like intense exercise, or also crying works, although that's not a thing everyone can do on command.

When I tutored grammar, I'd talk about breaking down the project into pieces that feel less daunting. Instead of thinking I'm writing a paper today, try thinking I'm researching this book or topic right now, or I'm figuring out a thesis, or I'm organizing my arguments around a thesis right now. It also might help to start on paper so that you can have something to put on the blank screen so that the glaring whiteness feels less daunting. Hope that helps!

his advice about writing down a circling thought is actually super helpful for me. i struggle with intrusive thoughts and especially late at night the thought will just start repeating over and over again and if i try to write it down i have to focus on capturing that single thought out of the loop and the loop stops.

I’m a very anxious and stressful person. I deal with extremely negative thoughts, my brain just attacks me almost every second of the day. When I tried the breathing technique, I almost fell asleep! That’s how calm I felt. It was insane, I’m going to keep trying to do this when I’m not feeling good (mentally) which is almost all the time. Thank you so much!
