Chris Atkeson, a professor at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, watches a variety of scenes featuring robots from movies and television and breaks down how accurate their depictions really are. Would the Terminator actually have dialogue options? Are the "three laws" from I, Robot a real thing? Is it actually hard to erase a robot's memory (a la Westworld)?

I have found that the more people become an expert in a certain field, they tend to simplify pretty much everything about it. Probably because the complexity of everything is just computed in their brain immediately. Essentially if you can't explain it simply you don't understand it well enough.

@Ben Shapiro That's not how intelligence works, and that's not what you need it for. Also, the fact that you couldn't even in a million years pass an exam about robotics doesn't mean that someone else can't, there are people everyday that pass that exam, like every other exam in every field, you don't need to be the best of the best to just pass. Even someone like you graduated, so anyone can do it -_- But, it's Ben Shapiro talking about something he don't know. Again. I'm not even surprised.

About Czernobyl: that was a German robot that complied to the radiation levels given by the Soviet Authorities. But the radiation was way higher than that, so the circuits fried after minutes. It took a little longer than in the movie, the robot first got stuck because of debris in the way and workers had to clear it. But soon after, it went completely dead. It is parked with the other robots a d equipment somewhere in the exclusion zone.

@@IloveGorgeousGeorge robotics and electronics are not that complicated in generel, it's just freakishly huge subjects, so if you wanna study those things, you need to find a starting point, and dont take on more than you can plausible study. what many do wrong (my self included, before i started in school as an electronics engineering), is they start at a to complicated level, for example, if you wanna know how robots move, start brushing up on your physics, after that you can learn about basic mechanics, or maybe basic programming in python or C, and then just keep building upon what you have learned. but always start at the fundamentals, since many times if you miss one thing in the fundemental understanding, it can snowball exponential, which would mean that although you understood the first few concept, the rest can quickly become mumbo jumbo :) and the most important thing... patience! as i said, these subjects are huge, and the people working in theese fields have been studying for years uon years, and usually have a good understanding all around , while being experts in 1 or 2 specific fields, like emc, fpga programming, mechanical movements and so on, which is the reason for it being teams working on a project and not just 1 or 2 dudes in the proffesional enviroments ^^

Joanna Craddy artificial means made by humans (not occurring naturally). Biological just means related to biology/living organisms. In this case, it’s probably organic chemistry. So an artificial biological life form is a life form made up of organic compounds designed by human hands (thus, not naturally occurring in nature). “What about test tube babies?” You might ask, “they aren’t naturally occurring, so technically they’re artificial?” Well, they’re considered artificially inseminated bc they still need to be birthed by a mother and go through the human life cycle. The only artificial process there is when the eggs are manually activated. Hope this helps.

Well, I was always taught that you could remove a comma for the sake of flow, as long as the impact is minimal, e.g. the break isn't too long, but I guess if we're being pedantic about it the very existence of two different possible meanings would affect the degree of that impact. The Geth would also be an interesting robot/AI to get his opinion on, just because as far as I know they are a fairly unique concept, but for the most part are relatively plausible in terms of real life basis (as in a lot of dumb robots, in this case AIs, cooperating to be smarter, mechanically not too fancy, fairly functional)
