Just curious if they work on heat shrink butt connectors or if you have to change to a different die. Are you satisfied with this tool ? Thanks very much for the video. I only crimp once in awhile so I wasn't looking to spend alot.

Hi, I just bought the same crimper and noticed that I can pull the 18 AWG wire out of the pink splice connector. I tried adjusting it but the two dies are already contacting so they can't close tighter. I used red wolf brand of splice. I was thinking of having a machine shop to remone .010" to .015" off the "tips"(3) of the lower die so it can close a bit more.

You can double over the stripped end of the wire to give more material to crimp onto. Thin wires are hard to crimp, the crimp bends and crushes without compressing the conductor.

@@VintageLynxI've had the same trouble with 18-22 gauge wire. I wind up with better crimps with old school crimper. The heat shrink connectors have glue that seals any holes made in the insulation.
