PRE-2012 Tacoma's can also have backup cameras, and are also in the mirror. The information mentioned in this video should be valid for those as well!

Dude, that color. 😮😮😮😮 I tried to find spruce green but just couldn't. I bought a white one with 52K miles and a 6-inch lift for 23K, so that kinda made me give up, and the spruce green dream.

i'm almost done with my conversion.. i was able to fit a Skar 8" sub in the factory box with some easy mods (and patience). i used adapters to replace the door speakers, 6" mids in all doors. i used sound deadening in the sub area/back wall and on the 4 doors. two small amps behind the left passenger seat - the storage area. i'm replacing the factory radio with a 12" screen android/tablet style. the most time consuming aspect was tracing all the JBL wiring and tearing it out.

Hey - Thanks for this video. Starting to go down the rabbit hole of replacing my OEM headunit. Really clear video with all the info needed. Appriciate the work. Subbed.

With the head unit included whats was your total price on hardware? I have a 2014 Tacoma and would love to have Android Auto. Thanks for the video 😊 Looks nice lots if great information.

I have a few questions as my jvc doesn't have android auto, how's the radio holding up? All I am getting is 1 station right now. Have the pac harness to get new one up and running. But the camera replacement intrigues me. Do you have any more videos of install ?

Has your parking brake connection by-pass been reliable? I heard on some Kenwood units the receiver looks for a "pulse" and if it doesn't get it determines its not connected to an activated parking brake. Also, did you ground it to metal or the ground wire in the harness?

Total cost? At this point I am considering just buying a whole new vehicle for CarPlay lol. This setup looks like 800+ labor, am I wrong?
@ArbitraryLifestyle2 жыл бұрын
Add another $200 for accessories/harnesses also. That Maestro is like $165, plus I think you'll need a harness that lets it connect to everything, and also add $25 if you want them to connect all the harnesses for a true plug-n-play experience.

I'm coming up on the end of my first week with the exact same setup you installed (DMX907S/Maestro Rr/Aftermarket backup camera) in my 2013 Limited with the same factory stereo you had and am wondering how you're feeling about it after nearly a year? I'm struggling a bit with the steering wheel controls. I relied heavily on them with the factory stereo and am completely lost now that I've upgraded. I've always mostly listened to SiriusXM with a few over-the-air radio stations mixed into my factory presets and loved being able to scroll through them without issue. Do you know if there is a translation guide somewhere on how the steering wheel controls work once this setup in installed?

That’s awesome. I have a 2015 Tacoma without jbl or navigation. Do I still need thr Maistro RR? Or this unit is needed for OBD vehicle inputs? I.e displaying tire pressure, resetting codes? Where did you tie this unit into the vehicle? OBD port?
@RipcordHQ3 жыл бұрын
The maestro is needed for the OBD features (gauges and stuff) and yes it plugs into the OBD port. But you should able just get the crux module to get the steering wheel controls to work since you dont have JBL.

Does this unit have a built in Amp that makes your speakers louder than normal? I know you said you already had a Amp. I have a 2013 as well. I might come back with more questions thanks!

Question can the Maestro data unit be used with the factory head unit 2013 model to get assess to the vehicle information like the tire pressure monitoring system and be displayed on it or do you have to purchase another head unit?
