Can you pair the wireless light switch to a smart plug? Allowing for the use of regular non-smart light bulbs.

Thanks for this breakdown. I like the Lutron and the ability to add Alexa for a consistent look across the house. But there are one or two rooms where I just want to relocate the light switch. Lutron doesn't seem to offer that, right? Where you put a wireless receiver inside the old junction box and put the new light switch in a different location?

This is great information. Thank you for sharing. I'm so confused with all the options. What would you do for an overseas airbnb?

Lutron Caseta Kit: amzn.to/3j6aDPK because it will work with any type of light switch wiring in your home even if you don't have a neutral wire. Here's the link for extra switches: amzn.to/3933wmj If you wanted to do something neat and different the Leviton wifi switches have Alexa built in: amzn.to/2WorjrP . It's like having an Alexa voice assistant in each room but your home will need to have a neutral wire in the switch box. If you want to learn about what a neutral wire is this video covers the topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmHNiGNsftCYaJY

I’m not sure about something. If I understood you correctly, the WiFi system is wireless. All you need to do is program the wireless switch and the smart bulb, mount the switch, and screw in the bulb and you’ll be good to go. The question I have is, the receptacle (?) that the smart bulb screws into has to be part of the house wiring system, correct. So it is not completely wireless.

I might have a stumper here. My Garage is a couple 100’ away from the house, it has a yard light on each corner. There is a switch in the garage to turn them on. I do NOT have a power wire going from the house to the garage. But I DO have a Ethernet wire going to a router out there. Would something like this work if I changed the switch in the garage for one of these and added on at my house, and connected them to wifi.?..

Yes, if you use one of the switches that uses Wifi like Leviton: amzn.to/2KmKUFO or if you use Lutron Caseta: amzn.to/3mg5Uv4 you could connect one end of your existing ethernet cord to your existing router and the other end to the Lutron Caseta hub for control as the hub is what connects to the switch. . You could also probably use an Eero: amzn.to/3gL5J9Z mesh network if the ethernet wire doesn't work out. I get wifi more than 100ft from my house with the Eero.
