Something you forgot to mention. Those fake controllers don't have pressure sensitive buttons, so some games won't play well. That's why I prefer the Brook DS3 wireless adapter for the PS2, because all original DS3 controllers have pressure sensitives buttons.

That is the Key. Also, 360 degrees of control on the analog stick. Many knock off controllers don't have this and it's difficult to get this info prior to purchase. The only games I have are multple versions of football, gta, resident evil, and socom. You can only run forward or backwards ar 45 left or right, 90 left or right, or straight ahead. This makes any 3d game unplayable. I just loaded up and bought a handful because I think they will get more expensive with time.

A lot of these controllers issues are either the old misc plastic parts break or the paper thin pcb will not make proper connection. As for stick drift, thats just old age.

Around the PS2 era I stockpiled on everything:4 systems, lots of controllers, scores of memory cards and a ton of games. I got ready for the future. And ever since I do the same thing with new systems so when the time comes I am not surprised by a lack of hardware in stores. Wait are you buying these extra controllers to collect or because you lack controllers? I only bought second market controllers for the NES and SNES. Good reviews and cool video Wicked!👍

I have a wireless ps2 controller. There is noticeable lag though that isn't there with a wired controller. Part of that could be due to the increased latency of already running it on a modern lcd screen though. But I much preffer wired when the option exists.

The alley works well it's much lighter than the original Sony wireless controller but you have to press the buttons harder just recently I'm noticing that the red and green lights are flashing but everything else still works maybe that's telling me the batteries are getting low?

I think these controllers are... ok? They work fine (with AAA batteries), the buttons are not pressure sensitive, like the original (so they may take some time to get used to, depending on the game), the most difficult thing to adapt to, for me, were the analog sticks. A lot more sensitive, and it feels like the analog values max out before the end of its travel. Besides that, and for their price, they're decent... I haven't tried the Brook adaptor for PS3/PS4 controllers on the PS2 (because I don't have PS3/PS4 controllers), so I can't compare them to those...
@alexj.f.kennedy60847 ай бұрын
Random answer a year later - I got myself these wireless controllers as well as the wired ones and tested the sticks. Both the deadzones and the travel on the sticks are god awful. If you devide the complete distance of travel for the stick from the middle position to completely held down, the first third won't be registered at all, the second third is doing the full range of motion (which for ps2 is 0.3 to 1) and then the last third sticks to 1. Completely unusable for FPS games. I fixed it by getting replacement sticks from AliExpress (there are many cheap ones but the most expensive version which also works for PS3 and Xbox 360 controller works really, really well and are 74ct each) and putting those in, after that the stick got recognized as it should be. Just that the replacements are easier to move than the original ones, which takes some getting used to. Else you can make half decent controllers for like 15 bucks when u know how to desolder and solder.
@username30536 Жыл бұрын
I got the clear grey one. The rumble motors don't do anything and the left analogue stick has a huge dead zone. It's fine for the moment but not a long term solution. You get what you pay for.

The clones are a good cheap substitution. wired PS2 controllers don't last and i think the cables break even when you don't use them. I had one, hardly used it, put it in storage for a few years and it now doesn't work. The copies are not going to be exactly the same but they do the job.
@sideskroll2 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Dualshock 2 controllers are TERRIBLE. The domes on the analog sticks "dissolve" by themselves (for lack of a better description), and they simply stop working out of the blue. I had a couple in storage and at least 2 just wont work anymore. Sadly, that seems to be a constant with Sony. My DS4 controllers are already failing and I have one of those Last of Us 2 editions that after playing with it for 2 hours (2 hours! And I take GOOD care of my controllers consoles etc.) after 2 hours of using it the right analog started to drift. The consoles seem to hold up a lot better. But nobody, NOBODY beats Nintendo in good, QUALITY manufacturing.

Nice video as always, I bought many versions of the wireless ps2 controller (including the version you have), they are all good and play well but not that great for example when I play MKSM and use this controller for "test your might" it is so hard to do it, maybe using the ps3 controller on ps2 would better (I don't know, I didn't try it), Unfortunately, I'm searching for a good quality wired controller like the ones I had many years ago (not OEM) but I couldn't find one and of these wired controllers come without vibration function.

HELLO amazing helpful KZbinr. I hope I can explain this clearly. I desire a pair (2) of PlayStation 2 controllers which work wirelessly via the SAME wireless dongle stuck into BOTH PS2 controller ports at the same time. This allows me to turn one off while my friend on the other side of the room turns theirs on in order to switch who's controlling player 1 for taking turns in single player games without having to throw one controller back and forth across the room. You may laugh but I have purchased a controller that does exactly this, which is a ProGamer (brand) PS2 wireless 2-controller set with a single dongle that splits into 2 wires and plugs into both controller ports simultaneously and does exactly what I described. The problem is one of the controllers has a faulty analog stick that doesn't activate when going left, and I can't find this brand or this type of controller or anything like it to replace this set up. If you have any thoughts or solutions I would much appreciate it. Thank you 💚 And I should note that I'm unconcerned about the quality of the controller since my main requirement is for it to simply function properly and work in the ways I described. Thanks
