You don't need VLC. You can just add "Media Source", deselect "local file" and type the rtmp address in the input field.

Any updates on advice using the DJI Fly App? I have an Air 2S which can't use the DJI Go 4 app, but still has RTMP capability. When I try to put in my IP using this process it goes to countdown then I get an "Invalid RTMP URL format" message. Anyone know any solutions?

I was able to use my KZbin Live rtmp address to stream live there, then use OBS to capture that window as a source so I could edit it, but it had a 6 second delay and the quality seemed somewhat diminished (not entirely sure because it was also low light conditions). Seems like it would be better quality if I could get it to work via MonaServer locally :(

The dji fly app now has a rtmp option for live streaming, I’ve tried the same process but with a dji mavic mini and the server wouldn’t allow it, saying no application a available, could do you a video on the dji fly app please if possible, awesome video also

vlc keeps reject it.....Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtmp://ip:1935'. Check the log for details.

Just a heads up, this MIGHT cause a flyaway problem. It's suggested that your phone's WIFI be turned off while flying the Mavic Mini, The Mini 2 uses a different frequency because it uses the Oculus (sp?) communication system. I almost lost my drone one day and did a lot of looking around as to what might have caused it, and that's the only thing that made sense and haven't had the problem again since turning of my phone/tablet's wifi while using them to fly my Mini.

There will always be some delay. If your computer is hardwired to your router, it would be slightly faster than connecting your computer over WiFi.

Hi Steve. I know this is a few years old now. I am wondering why you are bringing VLC into the mix. I am connecting my gopro 8 to monaserver and into OBS without having anything to do with VLC. Do you have any advice on being able to connect the camera from a remote location using a different network to the one monaserver is running on. I need to be able to move outside the network area with a 2nd modem and still connect to monaserver but having trouble finding an answer. Cheers. Doug

OBS has been updated over the years, and VLC is no longer needed like it once was. Selecting Media Source will allow you to type the rtmp address there. To access your OBS computer across the internet, you would need to open ports within your router to allow internet traffic to access your computer. Your router acts like a firewall to protect your home network. You would need to pass port 1935 to your OBS computer. It would be best to assign your OBS computer a static ip address so port forwarding works without issues.

I have one hotspot for my OBS and Monaserver computer at one location and a second hotspot for the gopro at another location. I know how to access both modems in the admin settings but not sure what to change. Do I need to have both hotspots on the same IP address with 1935 on both and match the gopro rtmp settings to that? I have Mavic Pro and use DJI GO 4 on Samsung Galaxy S7 with the original DJI connection cable. All is running fine but if I try this connection via MonaServer nothing happen. PC is able to ping the phone (are on the same network). Do I must configure something in MonaServer.ini? I tried to put host of RTMP to IP of my computer, if I lounch VLT I see that MonaServer reacts. But if I start streaming from DJI GO 4 with :1935 nothing happen on MonaServer or VLC. Can you help me? I created an exception for MonaServer.exe in firewall defender and also the same in Avira antivirus but still don't connect. When I start Custom RTMP on my phone I see "Connecting .... FPS 0.0"" but nothing on MonaServer window. Is it correct to leave in MonaServer.ini all IP addresses as when installed or I must change 0.0.0.0 to IP of my PC ? publicHost is set to 127.0.0.1 ... is this correct? Thank you :)

@@Steve_Does_Stuff Hi Steve, I made the connection but as the video streaming starts the MonaServer gives me the message: RTMP message exceeds buffer maximum 65536 size - Pubblication stopped. After this, in the file MonaServer.ini I changed the bufferSize, recvBuffersize and sendBuffersize to 131072 and so I can have about 1 minute trasmission, after this minute I have again the error RTMP message exceeds buffer maximum 131072 size. How can I fix this buffer size limits? Thank you.

@@visha_fm seems that with 512000 buffer all works. You can also disable all protocols except RTMP in MonaServer.ini

Thanks Steve- I have a Macbook and therefore have tried the same process using local RTMP Server 3.0 instead of Monaserver. I input the laptop IP address into DJI Go 4, go live, then the little camera icon on the laptop uncrosses, turns red which i assume means the signal is being received. However it still says " no live stream" and the IP address on the RTMP Server 3.0 is the default one and I cannot change it to the laptops one. Can you perhaps confirm what I am doing wrong and if it is actually possible to live stream from Mavic Pro-RTMP 3.0-VLC-OBS-KZbin? My main aim is to be able to add overlay graphics onto my live stream with OBS. Any help would be appreciated and thanks for the great content.

My next question is : It works if the iphone with DJI go 4 and the macbook are both connected to the same Fibre Home WIFI. It does not work if I try connect both devices to the same 3G/4G mobile router, or if they are both connected to individual different cellular routes ( the live stream signal on the DJI controller remains white and never turns blue). Is it not possible to stream from the Mavic to OBS to KZbin live via a celluar signal? Our filming work is out in the bush with no WIFI so praying there is a workable solution via cellular signal somehow :) Thanks so much for the help and keep up the great work!

A couple questions Steve. 1.) If I have two drones wouldn't they both have the same ip address? That's not a problem right? 2.) If I need to change battery on the drone what happens if it's only one camera in the obs stream? Will the stream just lose the drone camera temporarily and resume once the battery is changed?

I was curious if the spark stream could be integrated into an obs stream as an aerial camera angle instead of being the heart of the stream. The icon Live streaming is blue. Mona shows:"FlashStream.cpp[126] setBufferTime 3000ms on stream id=1 Server.cpp[118] 1 clients" when VLC is on.

This needs to be revisited and updated big time. Im running obs studio and I want live drone footage in one of my scenes. This shouldn't be to difficult but it seems to be for me. The information in this video isnt spot on. For the love of god do a video of just having live footage from the drone to obs without any middle software as dji now has rtmp implemented in the app.
