Nice video thanks...What happens when the temperature sensor is faulty (eg. open/short circuited) does it display something or have a warning buzzer? does it shut down the load or keep it on?...thanks
@reptilegarden5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, if the probe is faulty it will give a EE1 error so it could be a break in the wire or connection issue that can be fixed. HH1 is high temp alarm and LL1 is low temp alarm. I think with the relay if there is catastrofic failure it could go either way unfortunately. I don't know as I haven't had one of there units ever give issue and I must have about 50 going.

thanks so much for the video, i found it very helpful....im setting up a small bar fridge with this same thermostat for my snake egg incubator .....now do i fit the heat wire the same as you wired up the heat light ? and would i put the probe just above the egg box? thanks so much any other advice or info would be much appreciated
@reptilegarden5 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, glad it has helped. Yes you would just connect the heat cable and it won't matter which is live or neutral. I am busy with an incubator video but now waiting for eggs to hatch before I publish it. The probe just above the eggs is good unless you have heat padsjjnger the container. I normally have heating for the sides. Only below if there is a lot of space like in a big fridge. Then a fan 12v fan on 6v to very slowly circulate the air will also help to keep things accurate throughout the incubator. Often not needed but very useful and just make sure it doesn't cause vibration etc.

I'll start off by saying a big thank you for making the video! It's one of the better instructional videos I've seen and took the confusion out of setting up the unit which is great. I've got a question though. Before watching the video I bought a cable that had both the live and neutral wires within it (not sure if that makes sense, it's got more plastic that encases both cables). So I got the plug on no problem, but when it came to the bridging part of the video I was lost. I cut the cable +/- 10cm but now I have both a live and neutral wire to choose from and I'm unsure about which one to use to do the bridging with or would it be better to buy a totally different cable altogether? Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks
@reptilegarden3 жыл бұрын
Glad you found it helpful. The 2 wires should have different colours so you can find the live to bridge. If not a colour a marking or writing. If it has neither maybe best to just get other wire.
@aninavanderhoven33413 жыл бұрын
@@reptilegarden I've got a blue and a brown wire, normally brown is the live wire is that correct? Just want to confirm before I use it.
@reptilegarden3 жыл бұрын
Yes brown is live and blue neutral.

Well I have tried 3 times and it has blown 3 times. My heat mat doesn't have cables going out uses those metal clips. So your video had me stuck when it game to that. Work for a bit the popped. Tried again new wires. Blew something in my ups. Then tried to test the device and just popped. Cannot do it with my set up as it doesn't have cables on the heat mat so left me in the dark.
@reptilegarden4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shane, sorry you are having a hard time. It is most likely that the live and neutral are so close and shorting. You can just use wire and block connectors on the end of those heat pad clips. That will then extend the wires and you can wire it the way shown in the video. I do understand If you can't get anything during the lockdown, it complicated things. I can't be in control of how people wire these units. We have wired plenty as well as many people with the use of this video.

@@reptilegarden hi there. My wiring turned out to be right. The thing smoked first when I was changing its settings and fried my cabled. Then when I re tried with a new cabled the new cabled faulted and blew the unit. It was overheating when I tried to change the setting that's when it smoke up. Lock down or not. Don't have money to buy another one. :(. Have it connected directly. Lucky the mat doesn't get to hot but either way need to save up again
@reptilegarden4 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you may have wired it with the heat pad clips touched and caused a short. Also it can be fine and then if you bridged something incorrectly it will be fine until the program kicks and and it wants to apply power through an incorrect bridge. That then blows components on the thermostat. I am sure your animal will be fine for this short time. If a Corn snake or something even more so. Colubrids are not known to burn themselves like Boids are. Keep tabs on it with a thermometer. Then when your ready to buy a unit again, I will wire it with a plug and all for free.
@shanepote4 жыл бұрын
An electrictian check and my wiring was fine. Also I was using blocks to make sure nothing touches
@reptilegarden4 жыл бұрын
I don't know then. Each unit is tested before it leaves the factory and of the hundreds we have sold we don't have issues besides people wiring them incorrectly. We obviously can't guarantee any electronics that has to be wired up personally or by an electrician. We have other plug and play options like the dimmerstat which we do guarantee but they are more pricey. We also stock a much cheaper option which does the same thing as this unit. They are just R160 at this time. You can see the other unit on our videos.
