that was called wallasey tip on the penny bridge . it was started to be closed down in the late 70s . it was huge . bidston tip went from the railway lines to hoylake rd in depth. and from harding ave to bidston station in width . the entrance was at the end of harding ave . now treetops drive . tescos and the b&q take up some of this land . wallasey tip started at the penny bridge and finished by what is now the b&q roundabout . if you drive from the poole inn roundabout to the b&q roundabout on the bypass all the trees on the hill on the left was wallasey tip . also the bypass .

Brilliant comparison video, I was 5 in 1970 and from Liverpool although I had relations in Birkenhead at the time, (they moved to Prenton) and relations in Wallasey at the time (they moved to Bebinton) not far from the Ferry terminal Could you focus on that area Next? Even as a five year old I remember "The New Tunnel" being constructed and my cousin Alan saying they used the old railway line for the motorway enerance! I was under the impression that the grass land at the old New Brighton Tower area was where the stadium was ... you have proved me WRONG and I feel a fool on that one!. Even though I Love The Wirral (I have gone into the reasons many times) I have no recollections of New Brighton Baths !!! Once again A Brill video!.

Check out Chapelhill Road in Moreton. you should be able to see the old shops and their maisonettes. There was also a small police station in front of what was Wheatfield Heights, which are the only remaining block of flats of the four originally standing. I think they were called Fender, Mill Hey ...... can't remember the other one. There were also a group of low level flats opposite the wood that run parallel to the newer section of Chapelhill road. This road used to end just before what was the Clipper pub until the Sandbrook estate was built.

The land is within the green belt and any developer who purchased the land from the farmer who currently owns it would have to prove ‘very special circumstances’ for any planning application to be approved. Of course, this is not impossible to achieve when the council who run the planning authority for the area have an interest in allowing building on green belt. Wirral Borough Council’s planning committee approved the controversial ‘very special circumstances’ to allow a fire station to be built on green belt and they would have likely found a way around meeting ‘very special circumstances’ should their doomed golf resort idea have ever got further than an elongated campaign of misinformation and refusal to listen to advice why it was a stupid idea from day 1.

I heard there use to be a stadium in Rock Ferry, just off Bedford Road. Is that right? I can’t seem to find anything on it.

I use to live in Corinthian Street in Rock Ferry, just off Bedford Road. Someone, I forgot who is was, told me there was stadium there once. Before the hospital that is now the Rock Ferry Primary School.

I was told by my uncle back in the 70s that when Wembley stadium was being planned and where to build it that the wirral was one of the sites they considered, they scrapped the wirral site because it would have meant building on a ancient battle site...later in life I have tried to find any evidence of these suggested plans...I dont know if it is true or not...I hope you could find something on this..true or not
