If the entrance and exit is on the outsides of the maze, then follow left strat will get you to the exit. As a race, the start/end can be placed in such a way that the follow left wall can fail.

1:00:32 no one can build a maze which you cannot clzar using the left strat (or the right strat, that's actually the same) you just didn't explain the strat correctly, the strat isn't always turn left (or right) it's if you can turn left : do it. if not go forward If you can neither go left or forward turn right If you can neither turn left, go forward or turn right do a 180° rotation and apply what the same method You can swap left and right in this method as long as you don't change it while doing the maze, this will always gives you a solution but it's most likely to be one of the worst solution to the maze

You can actually easily build a maze where left strat doesn't work. Draw a circle with a small gap for the entrance of the maze. Inside that circle, draw another circle with a small gap. Put the finish in the middle. If you hug the left (or right) wall as you enter, you'll get back to the start without finishing the maze. The left strat only works if the maze is made of one continuous wall (or if you're being pedantic, if the start and finish are connected by one continuous wall).

For anyone wondering the actual fact to solve a maze is to keep your hand on a wall (people usually say left) and walk along the wall without lifting your hand. You will hit dead ends but will get the exit eventually

just saying but that way all you will find is *an* exit not the end of the maze. if both starting walls are connected wich is the case when the end is somewhere in the middle instead of the edge, following the same wall wil only take you back where you started.

There is a requirement for the maze to be all connected up. Then both sides work, one side might turn out easier but it doesn't matter which one you do. But if you make a maze where, say, the center part is completely disconnected it doesn't work (as you'll go in circles around the outside part). Multiple entrances might form some sort of disconnected maze making one side (or even some of the entrances alltogether) not work, but at least one entrance will be solvable by hugging one wall (it might make a difference which one in that case). If the goal is somewhere in the middle instead of being an exit at least one wall hug among all entrances will work (hugging both walls via all entrances is guaranteed to visit the entirety of the maze if it's not a disconnected one).
