Cindy and Rocky! I was hoping you guys might end up seeing this video - AND, you had to watch it all the way to the end to catch the shout-out - that's so awesome! Thanks again for watching, and there will be more to come! We've got the footage, but we've just been so busy with puppy Henry that our postings have fallen way behind!

Every year while our son was growing up I would take our son to the Dells. So many great memories! I remember going there with my church's youth group back in the late 60s, and the Dells didn't have the waterparks and other big attractions back then. But I was still amazed at the beauty of Mirror Lake and the gulches. I remember that we watched Native Americans dancing around a campfire, and later that night we saw Tommy Bartlett's Water Show. I just can't remember where we stayed for the night. I've been trying to do some research about that area during that time period.

Great video sir. I remember a big arcade in the late 80s when I use to go there. I think it was at Ye Old Wizard Quest. I can't wait to take my kids there this summer.

What was the name of the shop with the giant troll in the window many years ago? I'm pretty sure they sold T-shirts, but I don't remember what else.

Thanks for posting this video, you brought back fond memories! Started going to the Dells in the mid 60’s - My parents were friends with the owners of “Pine Beach Resort”, the property due east of Aloha Beach Resort. Would you happen to know if anyone redeveloped (or reopened) that property? Thanks…

Hi cito4633! Thanks for watching and for your comment! Growing up, my family stayed at Anchor Bay, which was the next resort up County Road A past Pine Beach and Dawn Manor, so we ended up driving by Pine Beach multiple times a day. I remember it well. In the last few years, the combined properties of Dawn Manor, Pine Beach, and some of the smaller adjoining lots were sold in a real estate deal to one of the major resort owners in town. This past summer, we noticed some rehabbing/construction being done on the Dawn Manor house, but so far the Pine Beach land had been undisturbed. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the Pine Beach property, but I'm sure it will ultimately be redeveloped too. Several years back, after Pine Beach had closed, Robin and I jumped the fence from Aloha Beach and walked around the defunct resort, which still had a number of small cabins still standing and an empty swimming pool that was filled with rain water and junk. The buildings are all gone today, but the lot is still covered with pine trees. Even now, if you're boating along Lake Delton, you can still see a remaining bench overlooking the old beach, which has, "PINE BEACH," clearly stenciled on the backrest.

@@midwesttraveldestinations Thanks for that great information! As I said, we started going to the area when I was a little kid in the 60’s (prior to the waterparks/casinos/ and even the first McDonalds😂). Days were spent swimming in Lake Delton, fishing, and rowing across the lake to catch the Tommy Bartlett Show for free… Much simpler times. Best Wishes to you guys!

You're very welcome! My experience was very similar. We stayed at Anchor Bay for a week every summer until I was in my early teens. My best family memories are from Lake Delton and Wisconsin Dells. If you were at Pine Beach in the '70s, you may be one of the few people left who remember the original Big Chief restaurant on County Road A, which eventually led to the Mouth Olympus empire. If you haven't seen it yet, you may like this video we made with a bunch of old photos from the Dells in the '60s and '70s: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJvIh2egpbWCgNk

@@midwesttraveldestinations I absolutely remember Big Chief! I was still going up in ‘74 when I got my driver’s license - It was a big deal for me to pick up food for us at Big Chief and bring it back to Pine Beach…Do you remember Bonanza Steakhouse just west of Big Chief, home of the $1.49 steak dinner?

@@PokeBeardTCG I'm just stating that there are new projects that were completed like the Elm Street Plaza is finished and looking nice. I believe Ripley's also moved locations. A lot can change there in one year and it could be worth a trip back if someone wanted to!
