Wisconsin Football 2024: Do Not Underestimate Them

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Iowa Hawkeyes are found ranked in many preseason Top 25's, and yet Wisconsin Football, who returns 68% of their 2023 production, brought in a Top 25 transfer portal and recruiting class, and has a great, proven head coach in Luke Fickell, is nowhere to be found. Why is that? I believe Nebraska Football and Iowa Football will be good this year, and the Badgers will be right with them in the top half of the Big Ten. Unlike their former West Division Comrades, Wisconsin has a tough schedule that includes Alabama Football, Penn State Football, and Oregon Football. However, Wisconsin brings back a near-elite defense, an offensive line that is one of the best in the country, and great receivers Will Pauling and Bryson Green. With Tyler Van Dyke transferring in, there is a chance that the Badgers could explode in 2024. Do not underestimate them. Great job. You're one of the feq that are non Badgers fans to actually say the Badgers are a legitimate CFP level team. 1.) TVD qas considered a first round talent after his freshman year in the Air raid offense. He had 3 different coordinators and systems that stunted his growth. I think going back to the best version of the air raid defense under Longo, and having a better OL/running game with solid depth at receiver is going to enable him to demonstrate his a top tier QB. This guy can potentially have 4,000 yards and post up monster numbers and I just think people do not realize this potential. 2.) Elite all around coaching (HC, OC, DC and strength and conditioning staff). I think they may have a top 5 combination in the NCAA. 3.) DB's: Hallman is the best man to man cover corner in the NCAA as he locked up Marvin Harrison Jr last year and had 7 picks. Hunter is a top five safety. Delancy the transfer lead the NCAA last year in 37% comp % allowed against himself last year. 4.) OL: Their OL has the most star power in the NCAA and return all but one starter from last season. 5.) Best LB group in the NCAA. I'm not sure if anyone can find me a better all around LB group in the NCAA for this season. 6.) DL qas a major weakness last season but they have 2 four star freshman coming in at DL as 2 monsters recruited is the best recruitment in this position ever and a redshirt freshman four star that's going to get the start this year along qith 2 transfers qith P5 experience. 5.) RB: Chez earned the starting RB position over Allen last year before his injury. Walker the transfer from Oklahoma looks great and they have 2 four star RB recruits as freshman this year. They always develop RB's as Melvin Gordan and Johnathan Tayor were just 3 star recruits and turned out to be the best RB's in their class. 6.) Biggest weakness is probably the Kicker who is mediocre at best. This is the main reason I have them losing vs Bama, PSU, and Oregon because even if those games are close I have no faith in our kicker. Then they could choke one game as they usually do like vs Ioqa. So I see them finishing 9-3 or 8-4. I have no idea y they can't acquire a solid kicker.

I think Griffin Jr and Green will be our starting outside receivers with Pauling in the slot. If we go with four receivers, I think you'll see Kekahuna or Burroughs instead of Williams.

@@collegefootballwithsam Personally, I think offensive line and quarterback. Tyler Van Dyke is a lot better of a player than pundits give him credit for. His leadership is something Wisconsin needs to have, especially with this daunting of a schedule.

Wisconsin is such a weird but cool team, thing with them is. Their schedule is TOUGH, I think they could win that USC game after Bama with the Bye. Also Bama in Camp Randall will be interesting, I think the worst realistically they do is 7-5, the best is probably 10-2, and I think Wisconsin fans now realize how bad the old staff messed things up, but Fick put in work just to have a winning season last year, As long as it's a winning season, they should be happy.

Honestly pretty good video. I think the main reason Wisconsin is being slept on is we were overhyping our roster last year and underperformed an easy schedule. That being said, I think every Wisconsin fan believes we are improved on both sides of the ball. For offense, TVD will throw the ball, tawee is great, Trech is going to be insane, renfro can snap, possibly the fr rbs will be insane, and then we return Pauling and everyone else for year 2 of Longo offense. For defense we can actually pressure the qb. Lowery and pius are amazing on the edge, jaheim Thomas is a beast, Tackett Curtis is a heat seeking missile, fourqurean and rj Delancey are gonna help out Rico. Wohler is wohler. DL is tough but we have willor, Johnson, and lane to add into the rotation. This team has filled so many holes with transfers and new freshmen, and should be much improved over last year. Penn state is gonna have a tough time. I’m predicting 8-4. Need the offense to drop over 100 between the first two games to really believe in more.

Penn state. Kotelnicki is big upgrade over lifeless yurcich. BUT.. Don't return many starters on D WR core still looks weak Is o line merely above average? Could title it "Will PSU actually REGRESS?? Provocative!

As a Badger fan, I have seen this team play much better when they are not in the original top 25 verses when they are picked to do very well. With the schedule they have this season, they could play very well and not have a great record.

@@collegefootballwithsam They acquired some speedy CB's to fix the deep passes that happened in the second half and improved the OL with a superior C. TVD is vastly better than Mordicai for sure. Mortify qas too scared to pass deep and played injured for half the season.

They'll have a vastly better OL, RB group and QB than displayed in that game. The CB's , DL and LB's have dramatically improved also. I'm concerned about the gutter trash kicker though.

As a Wisconsin fan it's nice to see someone who actually understands that the team will be good this year we just have a tough schedule. For some reason "flashy new teams" keep getting hype even though they have way more question marks than Wisconsin. Nebraska hasn't made a bowl game since 2016 but the national media and Nebraska fans are acting like there's a 10 win season sitting on a silver platter in front of them, meanwhile Rutgers is the doormat of the Big 10 and the media thinks it'll be a failure if they don't get 12 wins this year. Obviously that's exaggerating slightly and for the record I'm higher on those teams too but Wisconsin is on paper pretty good and doesn't get much love, but maybe that's a good thing this year.

I slightly disagree with TE being a weakness. Longo is the type of OC that uses the skill positions with the most talent/production. Wisconsin is loading up on insanely talented WR's right now, so they will probably use more 4 WR sets, and send the RB's out for passes to help offset the lack of production at TE. When Longo has had really good TE's, he has used them heavily. Longo isn't going to force the TE's into the passing game if he has better options elsewhere. Wisconsin is probably another year or 2 away from having some really good TE's.

We can absolutely upset USC and Penn State: I think we'll beat one of them (I'm hoping USC), but not Bama or Oregon. We'll probably drop one more, Iowa, maybe Nebraska or Rutgers, although we shouldn't. I think 8-4 is definitely doable.

I think the biggest problem rn is the DL. There is not a lot of depth there and better teams will wear us out later in the game. But on paper our Defense is very solid and the offense could be surprisingly good, so we'll see what happens.

The "returning production" stat has NEVER meant so LITTLE in the world of college football. Because of NIL and the transfer portal it is virtually impossible to accurately predict a season for just about any major college team.

I was wrong about last year being a down year, statistically it was actually a pretty strong year. What I mean by a down year is there won't be many teams who fit the bill of elite (so there are few CFP contenders). I do not know if this will be a chaotic season though.

I can explain it. "NIL created chaos." Super-conferences large enough to suck up all the talent and money. Coaching shuffles. Education mattering less than wins. But the new playoffs are going to be awesome. BUT automatic bids should go to qualifying conference champions and then you can wildcard four or five teams. 'Think' similar to current basketball model. That's the only way to make this fair to lesser conferences. If they go to the playoffs as conference champs they have better marketing and NIL talent. Just saying.
